I coworker of my sons does Powder Coating so I may take him up on offer to do it for me. I will also look into cerakote treatment. Yes, I will be installing myself so no rush. I would not even be on this thread if it was not for that fireplace. Long story short my wife was totally against spending this kind of money for the ALU CAB set up. One day when I was watching more YOUTUBE videos with ALU CAB Canopy Camper setups and they were showing how the Dickinson Fireplace worked well and provided ambience to the interior. Well...She put down her book and said, "A fireplace inside the camper? Wow!" She was hooked and then gave me the go ahead on purchasing my canopy Camper :)
Suggest you add something like this to the chimney, to protect the heater from dust (or bees or whatever) when not in use. My understanding is that over time, it can impact the built-in fan. I take a leaf blower to mine once or twice a year... blow from the firebox up and out. You'd be surprised by the cloud of dust that emerges!

I will put that in my cart now. PNW rain/snow here so yes that is a no brainer. Thank you

This looks to be the one I need, anyone have one that would share their experience with it? pro's cons? How much noise did it add ?
Also any forum discount code?

Thanks
Check out Page 52 of this thread. At least members two have the Trailrax installed including the thread originator Steven and CUG. Mine is going on in two weeks. No discount code for mine. Shop is throwing it in for me at no cost. Long story.

I have it on my truck, I don't even know it is there when driving. Its a nice rack. It fits with the camper very well.
Agreed. From a longevity perspective I'd prefer a welded rack, instead of one with so many relatively small bolts,, but the extrusions have significant advantages. We have added MaxTrax mounts and this works great.

It also reduced highway fuel consumption, giving us a slightly longer range.

I wonder if I'm the first on this thread to haul an ACCC across the Rubicon... (I tried thread-search but we all talk about our Rubicon Jeeps and Rubicon parts so much, it's useless.) Anyway, my first time; and my buddy that rode shotgun, it was his first time off-roading at all so he went kinda nuts with the pics:

Ran Loon Lake to Tahoma. Could have been two days but we took three and did a lot of hanging out. Camper was not a problem - there are not a lot of tight overhanging trees - other than the dead weight of it all. Jeep did great, nothing broken or bent, lots of new scrapes but all on armored bits. The days I was there were heavily weighted towards older and highly modified Toyotas. Mine was by far the heaviest and most luxe rig I saw, and I'm pretty sure the only diesel too. Can't wait to go back

Wants your total weight loaded up?
Many others have been going the last few years..I'm holding off till I get tons and 40's min. I'm 7400lbs+ as a daily driver so another 200 I guess on the trail. Rear axle is already way over spec at 3570lbs additional weight will be on the rear.

I didn’t weigh it for this specifically, but I think I was around 7k. I did pull out as much unnecessary stuff as possible for this (though I carried my stock front axle shafts as spares since I recently installed RCVs - that was an extra 100 lbs of unnecessary dead weight). Honestly, it wasn’t that any single obstacle or move was so difficult (I bypassed Little Sluice and Old Sluice, as nearly every highwayable vehicle did. Old Sluice in particular is marked buggy-only), it’s just very very sustained with very few let-ups.. Max difficulty with those bypasses is thus 7 or 8 which to my mind does not require tons and 40s. But I did have lots of contact and really depended on the belly skids, which might not have been needed if I were on 40s? So YMMV.

(sounds like the CJ7 in your sig would be right at home though, and maybe even take on the Sluices)

I've been on the Rubicon many times since '03 in 4 different rigs always take little Sluice but haven't taken Old.
I have RCV's but haven't installed them. Already have had a bent rear axle flange, replaced with cromo on my dime and the other side weeps a little but been good for over a year since the dealer can't seem to get a shaft to uphold warranty.

Weak axles on a heavy rig just IMO is asking for a failure. Easter to do tons.

Hey folks, I have a slightly unrelated question for the specialists here:

How would you go about selling a fully build Gladiator with Canopy Camper including full interior build in the easiest and safest way possible? Given that it's not "just a Jeep Gladiator", but more a customized camper, I have no idea whether any of the typical easy car sales options will help me.

We are moving out of country and need to sell our truck (if you're interested, check my build thread). I'm looking for an easy way, not the most money.

Thanks for suggestions, best maybe as PM, so we aren't clogging the thread here.

Recommend placing an add on Expedition Portal’s Classifieds. They cater to folks who are looking for completed overlanding vehicles.
