Hey all. First, thanks for all the great info you all provide here. But, I'm having a heck of a time trying to make a decision on a wheel size for my build and I'm humbly asking for some advice. It's probably important to first call out that South Dakota doesn't give me much for intense climbing opportunities so my use is pretty limited to everyday driving and some moderate offroading. I currently have a stock Overland and I'll be installing a RC 3.5" lift and I'm leaning towards 17x9 -12 wheels. I see good reviews on the Nitto Trail Grabber wheels but I absolutely cannot determine if 35x12.5 or 37x12.5 is the better choice. Any recommendations? Do I need to be concerned with gearing, tire clearance, ride quality, etc? Any input from those of you on the forum would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Contrary to what the Kool Aid drinkers might tell you, your ride and fuel economy will suffer on 37s. Who cares about fuel economy because "it's a Jeep thing" but given you stated you'll be using your JT for everyday driving, you are probably interested in maintaining as close to stock ride quality as you can.

I have also been pouring over the info on this as well....leaning towards the 35's but 37's do look killer... I wonder also how much of a difference it will really make between those 2

If you're debating between 35s and 37s, you probably won't be happy with the look of 35s. Maybe compromise by selecting a lighter weight 37. Maybe a 37 KO2, or Mastercraft MT?

As far as ride quality would an AT make a big difference on 37's??? Or if your daily driving then 35's in general might be the way to go? And is the real difference caused by the weight difference?

I wouldn’t go with 37s on an overland. 3.73 gears will be pretty tall for 37s

I’ve had 35 and 37 Hankook MTs, 37 BFG KO2 ATs, 35 Nitto Trail Grapplers, 37 Pit Bull Rockers, and 35 BFG KM2 MTs on JK Wranglers. Of those, the 37 BFG KO2s were the best ride on the road by far.

I went back and fourth on this one too... I ended up going with the 35 Nitto Terra Grappler G2s because I really wanted an all terrain tread this time around (I had Mudd Terrain K2’s on my Tuscany f150 and wasn’t happy with the colorado snow). Here are a few pics and maybe that can help u make a decision... part of the problem I had was trying to visualize the setup :

I just put on 37s BFG ko2 Recalibrated the computer wit a tazer. Now I have gone through my first tank of gas yet. And it is a Rubi with 410 gears. Before. I was getting. About 14.5 mpg. Now my commute is pedal heavy. I start out at 3480 feet go down the mtn To the level of the Central Valley which I think is about 200-300 in elev drive the 99 at roughly 80 -85 for. 3 hours. Dodging 18 wheelers then climb the grave vine to 4400 ft. A side off road trip
Just to do it and take a pee without going into a public rest room. Then through LA traffic which can be 70 -80 or 0-5 finally ending up at sea level Those guys who are getting 20 plus must have either a light foot or really low rear ends. Now going to 37s but just driving up and down the local mtn. I am getting 13.7. So
You will take a hit. I plan on regearing but have been very surprised on how well the auto handles the 37s I suspect if I drive a little slower I can get better mileage. But why do that?.

The ride is better. Running the tires at 34 psi the ride will be better or worse based on the tread pattern. So a heavy duty mud tire will ride mucH rougher than a all terrain like a ko2 and a street type tire better still

Imo id go smaller lift and 35’s based on what youre saying. I think the 3.5” of lift will make the 35’s look too small.

do an AEV 2” spacer lift. It will ride really good, use a D load range 35” and itll look good and ride great. A 3.5” lift is going to make you want to fill the gap I think.
