Anybody notice these holes at a JT car show

Anybody know what those 3 circles are for for on the side of the box? Look like they could be bolt holes, but there are no bolts in there.

Reasonable assumption. Is there enough air gap between the sidewall and the tailgate for a bracket though?

My 2016 Power Wagon had very similar holes that turned out to be for the bed extender
