Was looking at property in Palmer as well - but i didn't like the lot it was on. Really want to be somewhere that is close enough to commute to get groceries and whatnot - but far away from the crazies (won't get political here). How is getting parts for your Jeep in AK ? Any good shops around the area ?

Trail Toyz is the local 4 wheel shop. Several independent shops for gear changes and stuff. Lithia CDJR is in Wasilla and Anchorage.
