Curious if anyone on here has tried selling or trading in their JT with the current health and economic situation at hand. I realize this is a tall ask as if you did let your JT loose, I doubt you'd still be on here. I know @WXman had changed over to the Ram side, but I think he got out before things really hit the fan. But even still, he got like $16k off and it pulled him over for what seems to be the same reasons that are intriguing me.

I have no reason to let mine loose, but with some of the crazy rebates, incentives, free financing, etc. out there, it got me wondering. Don't get me wrong, I love my JT; it has been one of the top vehicles I have owned even with its quirks. It's just that KBB has trade-in value at what about what I paid for it or even more than I paid for it. Seeing some of the incentives and discounts out there is just nuts. Right now I'm just in exploration mode with half a toe in the water.

How did you fair out? With as bad as dealers are hurting right now, did they even come close to KBB on your trade-in? Are they pushing hard to get your trade so that you'll buy their vehicle on the lot? What's your story?

I am trading up on my gladiator right now, just factory ordered the replacement. With the current incentives on new gladiators, used ones are extremely depreciated. The used market will likely recover some when the incentives change. With a lot of back and forth with another dealer, I was able to get an offer of $41,000 for my 60k MSRP 14,000 mile rubicon (he started with an offer of $36,000). I would like to be at $46,000 for it but would take $44,000. Going to send it to auction or work a private deal.

Auction prices are down 17% across the board. If say private sale is going to be your best option. Some dealers will let you do a private sale (you bring buyer) and trade at the same time so you save the taxes.

I have been giving it some thought of trading in on something cheaper since The economy seems like it will be bad for the next several years, but I keep reaching the same conclusion that I’d end up taking a huge bath on it and I REALLY like my truck. Kbb showed the trade-in value at close to what I owe but I doubt I could find a dealer willing to come close right now.

Not 100% sure what I would get. Maybe a full size truck and get a Jeep that's more toy focused.

Quirks are the same as most on here. Loose steering being my only real complaint.

This is my primary push. I'm doing fine and still have my job, but it doesn't hurt to be proactive "just in case."

KBB says a value that sparked this whole thought process, but is there anyone out there that's even coming close? What about CarMax? Trade in value is more than I paid for it!
