Love this truck. I’m coming from a 2017 JKU that was lifted 3 1/2” riding on 37’s with a zillion pounds of Metalcloak steel on it so the ride quality difference is huge to me. I see people saying the steering is loose but if you are familiar with Jeeps.. it ain’t. Everything about it is nice and firm. It feels great to drive. The rear and front cameras produce a very crisp and vivid image on the 8.4” screen. The touch sensitivity is top notch and functionality is as well.
The Alpine system is worth every cent they charge for it. It would be a bitch to fit a sub in the truck so what they did is more than enough. Simple adjustments of bass up 3 clicks, mid range down to 1 above bottom setting, and trebble all the way up, will have your tunes sounding great. I don’t know why anyone would buy the sport instead of the sport S… Unless you can upgrade to the Alpine system on a regular sport..anyway, I like it. I like it A-lot. ( dumb and dumber)
My dilemma is tire size. The truck needs bigger tires. The Rubicon is barely passable with the 33’s but the overland and sport models look just plain poopy. 35’s are a minimum must have for the Gladiator in terms of just looking “right”. So my options are
1.) 2 1/2” coil spacer lift with 35” ridge grapplers on the factory black LE wheels with some spacers to push them out a tad $1700ish
2.) 2 1/2” coil spacer lift with 37” ridge grapplers on some aftermarket rims(undecided) since the factory wheels are too narrow $3200ish
I keep going back and forth.. I would rather go with the 35’s as it is obviously cheaper, but to also try and minimize the impacts that big ass tires bring. But All the photos I find online are inconsistent. I’ll see a bunch of Gladiators on 37’s and lean in that direction, then come across a photo of one on 35’s that looks good lean back. I don’t know...real world problems. I suppose I could fetch a decent amount selling the wheels and tires to someone who bought a sport or overland..

Hey @Warmzilla4u on the sticker I see that you paid $1100 for: piece hard top

The 3 piece black hard top roof is $1195 not $1100 do it can’t be that. Was that for the 3 piece folding hard tonneau cover? If it was then this is the first Gladiator that I know of to get that hard tonneau cover. If that’s what you got then please post lots of pictures of that tonneau cover, open and folded and showing how it gets mounted to the bed of your truck. Lots of people are wondering if you have to have the trail rail system in order to mount that tonneau cover. Thanks

This is a launch edition so it doesn’t have the hard tonneau cover. But I think I can explain the $1100 looking at my window sticker. The cost of the black 3 piece hard top is covered in the LE package. The $1100 is the difference between the black hard top and color matched hard top.

Gotcha. I see that you both had the exact same price so now it makes sense. Thanks

You may be the most focused individual on here! Looking forward to reading when the great tonneau appearance of 2020 happens. So far, we have bupkus, right? Offered but no sightings at shows or in wild?

Haven’t you heard... it’s not the size of your tire, it’s the articulation of your suspension! ;{

Yes, per Jeep it’s rumored to exist, just like base Sport models and manual transmissions and Steveale’s LE along with Big Foot sightings.

Hey @steveale you have my sympathies.

You may be the most focused individual on here! Looking forward to reading when the great tonneau appearance of 2020 happens. So far, we have bupkus, right? Offered but no sightings at shows or in wild?

The guys in Roswell that put 37”’s on the 2” factory lift had to cut 1” off the rock rails and recommended removing the front bumper wings to avoid rub if you are articulating the suspension in a turn off road. Just something to keep in mind.

I would really encourage you to look at the video on youtube where they dyno the trick with 37" tires. The loss of power is tremendous. I would NEVER compromise that much power for 37s. I know many of the members will do 37 or even 40s and good for them, they'll look amazing, but their truck is going to be slow as mud. I myself will go with 35s and try really hard to find lighter wheels to compensate for the weight gain.
