It'll be my Monday for this week but also tempted to go hit Pumpkin Patch & Truckhaven either in the morning or just call off, maybe a couple other areas around there. Was just out there last week for Galleta & attempted to tackle the Pinyon Mountain badge but The Squeeze is no joke

Slight change of plans for me. we are looking for a place to do some recreational target shooting. There looks like a place off split mountain Rd. Called Shoot Spot on BLM. If so, we may camp closer to Fish Creek area and the wind caves.

We did Coyote Canyon a few weeks ago after the rains. Its nice out there, one of the water crossings was larger than usual.

Just an FYI, there was an earthquake in Anza yesterday, no big deal but as the Mudcaves are already unstable, I would take this recent quake into consideration before venturing into them. It wouldnt keep me from wheeling around at all, but I personally wouldnt be hiking into or ontop of the caves. Stay safe.

Yeah, we felt it for a couple of seconds. I think it was a 3.9. Hopefully no more coming.

Thanks for the heads up and reminder. Looks like we will be on the north side by fish creak and the wind caves.

If you check out fish creek primitive camp grounds, they gave metal fire pits. Otherwise, like me I will be bringing my own portable metal fire pit.

Generally these things get you by:

1. No ground fires, bring own firepit.
2. No gathering wood, bring your own wood.
3. Don't leave charred firewood, ashes etc. Pack it out.

In places like Anza I just use the "fake logs" they sell like Pine Mountain. They burn long and completely. No raging bonfire, but good enough.

I bring this:

https://www.amazon.com/Pop-Up-Fire-...opup+pit+with+heat+shiel,lawngarden,95&sr=1-3

2'x2' fire, compact when folded up for transport. Meets USFS & BLM Guidelines. Really can't be beat for travel.
