I would love to go. But my traveling budget for the year is shot. Traveling to San Diego for my one grandson's graduation from Marine boot camp next month. Wasn't expecting to go.
Understood. Prioritizing family events is important. If circumstances change or if there's another opportunity, perhaps in the future, you can consider attending. Enjoy the graduation and celebrate the significant milestone for your grandson!

So my buddy and I are heading to AOAA Saturday to do the badge trails. Starting with fern ridge. And possibly camping depending on how the rain times out and how hard it’s coming down. Which is giving me another reason to put my awning on that I just got. However, I know AOAA is tight!!! Last time I was there I was more worried bout weaving through the trees then the obstacles on the trail itself. Even though I guess you could consider the trees obstacles too haha. I have done Barney rubble but not fern ridge. Would I be stupid to put my awning on for these two trails. I’m already weary with having my roof top tent on it, but hey we might be camping.
Thanks!

Hey Jeff, there were some areas on Fern Ridge that were tight (cost me a marker light on my left front fender) but if I remember correctly there were different lines you could take in most of those areas. I think you are fine with the tent but may take some scratches on the awning depending on how far it sticks out past the side of your bed. This time of year most trees will be bare so you will have that in your favor.

Well I guess I’m just going to leave it off just in case. We def ruled out camping, assuming I wont get by money back, but whatever it was discounted rates for winter at the trail head campground anyways. Hopefully with it being wet tomo, I won’t slide into anything knock on wood. My k02s havnt failed me yet!! Thanks for the replies!

Hahahaha. Well it was a good day! Not to many pics, again I was more worried about hitting a damn tree as tight as some of those spots are on the trails. Which I took zero body damage to the jeep itself. Except for some scrapes underneath which we all know is going to happen in this boat of a vehicle. However, I did unfortunately crack the top corner of my roof top tent on a god damn tree that was overhanging. Cracked the corner quite a bit. Top shell is fiber glass I assume. Ikampers hybrid tent, xcover 2.0. But I imagine I can just use some type of epoxy on it? Then sand it and spray paint it. If anyone has any ideas please care to share. Right now I just put some gorilla tape over it after it happened to keep the rain off of it. Luckily just the outer shell that’s cracked. Plastic layer underneath looks fine. I’ll get a better look tomo when it’s not raining. Was gonna hit up a local body shop this week to see what they might suggest. And both of my fender lights randomly decided to go on and off today. So I guess a trip to the local dealership will be in order soon. With my tent on it’s insane how much more tippy it feels than without it. I literally took harder lines that were flatter (bigger rocks and such) vs the trail itself that just had more pitch and roll. You start getting into the low 20s with that tent on and your you know what is puckering like crazy! Normally I don’t have my tent on when we go to parks, but my buddy and I were going to camp there tonigh The rain halted those plans though. Freaking pouringgg. Other than the slight hiccup with my tent it was a awesome day!

It would have been a lousy night to sleep in a tent, then a week of trying to clean and dry everythin. That’s a bummer and so is the big tree whack on your cover. looking at your build it was a good call to leave the awning off!

I will be in the area to run those trails (AOA and RC) in September around 20th to 23rd. Still working on planning when I would be in the area exactly.

One question I do have is if all 5 BOH trails can be done in a day, or is it 2 days? Since they require you to have at least 2 rigs in your group seeking others to possibly join.

Just did the 2 at AOAA last weekend and that alone was a full 7-hour day. Plan at least 2, and I say that only having done one of the Rausch Creek trails.

If you were on a mission to just hit those trails, you could do it in a day. The two parks are about 30 miles apart from each other, so only about half an hour to drive. You still have to calculate in the time to register, pay, and navigate miles of other trails in each park to get to the BOH trails but I would think that if all goes well, logistically it should be possible.
if you can take two days you will be better off because you can take time to really explore each park, tailgate a lunch, etc. Apart from the BOH trails, AOAA and Rausch Creek have some additional great trails. If you are coming all the way from Vancouver my recommendation would be to take one day each to check out the area so you aren’t rushed or have your plans derailed because of slow groups in front of you, unexpected trail side repairs, etc.
When you have solid plans start a new thread to catch people’s attention and you will likely have plenty of us from the area who will be interested to meet you and run the trails with you.
