Attention RokBloks owners

After loosing 2 thumb screws that attach the mud flaps I contacted Rokbloks on their web sight to see if I could get some replacements and after waiting a week and a half with no response I went and did a search on the interweb and found the parts needed.
Any one that owns these needs to read this because there is a slight flaw in their design and this will happen to you.
I found that the 10mm hole in the mud flaps and the thumb screws used to mount them that the base of the thumb screw is 13mm and the allen head screw that is inserted in the thumb screw is 9mm. So when you tighten the thumb screws you are putting pressure on the thumb screw head itself. You have a 10mm mud flap hole with a thickness of 4mm with a 9mm thickness allen head and the thumb screw base not going into that 10mm hole because it's 13mm wide so when you tighten the thumb screw you are putting all the pressure on the thumb screw head allowing the allen screw to be pulled out of the thumb screw head.
Also if you are thinking to just drill the mud flaps out to have the thumb screw fit the hole you will still have a gap because the hole in the mud flaps is 4mm and the thumb screw shoulder is 3mm so there will still be pressure on the thumb screw so it could still be pulling the thumb screw head away from the allen screw itself . I have gotten new thumb screws on the web that are a direct replacement and also I had found 5mm Id x 10mm W x 5mm thick to fit in the mud flaps to take up the spacing.

I ditched all the thumbscrews and installed them using stainless hardware with wide flat washers. But, I never remove them, so I don't need thumbscrews.

Definitely saving this… just in case.

Installed May of 2022. 36K miles. I lost something of them once, called and was sent replacements quite quickly. My thumbscrews are tight AF. So much so, that I have to use a rag of sorts to loosen them. Have yet to lose any of those in particular though. Knock on wood…

I can see how those would work they are a totally different design as his replacements but his is at $5 each and got mine for $8 and change for 4 .

I did a walk around B4 I left the home and when I got to my destination 13 miles away I had found the LH front hanging by one bolt ! I always check these every now and again and also use Purple Loctite on them .

Mine have never worked loose in almost five years ,take them off for wheeling and honestly they are on tight and get rusted a bit from the salt brine in winter, that I need to use pump pliers to get them off, actually thinking of using stainless bolts and a small ratchet to take them off….Jack

I also recently replaced the hardware with stainless steel bolts and washers. I've had my RBs since August of 2019. They froze up before that winter and I started removing them and reapplying anti seize compound at least once a year. Hex head hardware is the way to go. I already carry sockets and a ratchet to remove the steps from my rock rails so adding another socket is NBD.

I went out and checked mine. Missing one thumb screw and some of the mounting screws were loose. Tightened everything up. Will have to order a thumb screw!

I installed mine a year ago. Once installed, I tightened them using a hex wrench and have not had anything come loose. Of course, I keep that same wrench in the Jeep in case I want to remove them, but haven't really needed to yet (even with a Moab trip last May). Might do that when I go back to Moab in April,
