If you're going to do that, why not just leave the pin out of the holder so it doesn't engage when the hood is closed? Disconnecting the wires exposes it to dirt and damage. From what he said, I'm guessing it has to be connected to pass the yearly emissions test. All these hacks and purchasable add-ons seem like a lot of hassle to avoid one extra button push when starting the truck.
