Anyone else have an issue with the welds on the rear doors? Just noticed these yesterday. How does that weld pass quality control??

Typically doors are not welded through the whole seam. The pieces are spot welded together by a robot and a sealant will go around the seams some times

Sure looks like they tried to weld it all the way down. They missed in the middle and the bottom curve. Passenger door is welded cleanly.

That is sealant and is applied by robot something must have shifted while being applied...

It is used to seal the seams and used on all vehicles today.

That robot must have been taught how to weld by the JL frame welding robot

After several years as a qc in a auto mfr, it is a sealer application, it should of never left sealer deck, then caught on the door assembly line, the line off qc should of detected the flaw, final inspection may catch the problem. Sorry several people missed the defect.

That robot applying the seam sealer was drunk on the job. It should be fired immediately. :bandit:

That could have easily dis-bonded and opened up after it left the factory. Still a marginal sealant job but I can see how it could have been missed and not readily apparent during manufacture.
