I know there are a lot of write-ups for the Badlands Apex winch install but I thought I should add mine in case it provides someone some additional info.
The basics:

  • 2024 Gladiator Rubicon X
  • Stock steel bumper (Winch ready)
  • Grimm Offroad Steel Bumper Winch Plate, GOR10067 (At Northridge 4X4)
  • Badland Apex 12,000 lbs winch with synthetic rope
Plate install was very straight forward, no issues. The winch went in without any need for spacers (other than the two provided bumper spacers that come with the kit) or trimming the clutch handle.

I did not relocate the control box, nor did I re-route the wires to the side. I am happy with the fit. I used the provided disconnect switch which I mounted under the hood (Used zip ties in two of the holes of the housing, didn't want to try to create a bracket or do any drilling).

Here are some pictures:

Great price. Unfortunately, out of stock at this time...

You mean, the Grimm winch plate being out of stock? I bought one a few days ago from Trail Recon for less than northridge. It looks like you can still place an order at the discounted price for when they have them back in stock.

Thanks for posting this, it looks good! I'm going to be doing the same install next week.

Did you need to get longer bolts for the fairlead?
How long did the entire install take you?

Yes, I forgot to mention that I did need longer fairlead bolts. Easy enough to get at Home Depot.
I spanned the install over two days because I wasn’t in a rush and I could. I would say 4 hours is a good estimate at a leisurely pace. Can be done in less.

Ended up having to trim my handle. Mine is a 23 Rubicon with three piece steel bumper. I used the Rough Country winch plate. Only trimming was with the handle. Everything else bolted up fine

I gave a buddy of mine crap for having a Harbor Freight Badland winch, until I saw how built it was. I too have it, almost 3 years, used it for recovery of others, but it's too good a deal not to have.

You can get Adventure Labs disconnect mount. Very clean and works with the included disconnect switch.

Very nice. It looks like the 24 grills make it so you don't need to re-route the cabling. I had to do mine out the side because it would literally just smoosh into the grill otherwise.

I had one on my Gladiator as well and it did great for the 4 years I owned it. Also had a Harbor freight winch on my 2010 Jeep Wrangler JKU. Both are still going strong for both owners now. In 2020 I picked my Badlands 12,000lb winch up for $390 out the door. Man they have went up since then.
