I’m purchasing 37x13.50r17 and KMC beadlocks and I’m wondering what method everyone is using to balance? Beads or weights? If beads, which ones and what weight?

I got lucky on my YJ and mounted up a set of used 40x12.50 BFG KR3 race tires on my new Raceline Monster beadlocks and they run smooth to 80 MPH without balancing.

If I had vibrations I would take them to a shop and have them balance with sticky weights. Im not a fan of beads that settle to the bottom and rebalance every time you stop and go...

Beads don't actually work like 97% of the time from what I've heard and read.

I tried beads in my beadlocks...huge mistake. I spent a week trying to be optimistic, they would be smooth sometimes but then hit a bump and way out of balance again. Snake oil IMO, had to break the bead and vacuum them out and go get them balanced in the traditional manner.

Lead/steel weights for sure and don't focus low bidder.....Try to find a shop that has techs that know how to operate the machine and willing do a dynamic balance.

I haven’t had any more of a hard time with beadlocks then without.

yellow dot mounted all of mine. Run them for a hundred miles or so- then take them in to get balanced.

if they are a real pita or simply don’t balance I would consider road force balance. (Never been in this situation though…) simple spin balance has been fine.

nittos and Patagonia’s are my expierience. Highest weight needed was at the end of life- somewhere between 13-16oz to balance…. Usually 3-4 when “newer”
