Bed cover with rack

We like to carry sleeping bags, pillows, clothes etc under a tight bed cover. Fire wood works best carried separately. Love Undercover on our Colorado. : )

This works:



But they have no plans for a Gladiator.


This could be awesome:

This doesn’t work well at all.



Surely, someone smarter than me, has an idea.

That last one, if you use the full height rack the bed cover doesn't interfere, but still works even with the mid height version.

I went a slightly different route and use a rack and storage bubble to keep things dry leaving the whole bed open for other stuff.

It costs a decent amount more, but this is what I am looking at to be able to have a secure waterproof bed, with the ability to add a rack later on.

Nice thing is to I will still have full payload capacity on top of the bed using this cover so I can truly use the inside of the bed for storage.

I am hoping for Bakflip or someone else to make one of these to fit the gladiator. I emailed them a month ago. No answer .

Until then I’m making due with the colorado roll bargain roll-top.

I just went on their website and IM'd with them. Guy said it should be in the works, but nothing released yet.... I am looking for a similar type solution. I'd go with the Diamondback HD, but then you always have the tonneau in place.

Yeah. I like the diamondback HD. But I often need/want to remove the whole cover. I’ve had a ram will a roll-in/metal top for 13 years. Getting the cover out of the way to dump rocks, mulch or even load big items is a must for practical purposes. My only regret has been not having a rack on on my ram too. Would’ve come in useful a lot. Glad you got through to them. I didn’t see a chat option.

I've got the Retrax system with the Trax Rail System on my Super Duty with plans to add Yakima's new OverHaul HD rack system. I'd like to be able to use the same set-up on my future Gladiator. I'll be at SEMA next week and hope to drop in to see Retrax if they're there. We'll see...

Retrax has reportedly said they aren't making one for the JT due to the fuel filler location. I'm not sure if they will change their mind, because it seems Truck Covers USA has figured it out.

Yeah, just read the post that addressed that. Bummer. Who knows... with strong enough sales and interests from the public maybe they'll reconsider. Maybe the only option will be Truck Covers, but I love how the Yakima OverHaul rack system integrates with it ReTrax's Trax Rail system. We'll see.

Backflip says it has a 500lb weight rating, but curious how it can handle that load offroad as it moves from side to side. You can see the sides flop around in this install video.

It seems like a good option for lighter loads on the street, however. Plus you get the security of a folding cover.
