Note: For extra security, If you have a Tazer, the "live settings" let you instantly turn on a "hood alarm". After that the hood alarm is enabled everytime the truck is turned off. It works well and is very loud.

So, just curious.

What does this prevent? Or rather, what do folks think this prevents?

I park in an unsecured parking lot 24/7, so the Bolt hood lock gives me a little peace of mind. I haven't had any issues for going on 3 years.

Seriously? They have to state this on a product made and sold for VEHICLES??

Don't suppose these can use the same laser cut key the truck comes with?

Well, I figured out the warning - it's aimed at Jeep owners and drivers like this -

The Rugged Ridge latch is good quality. Used it on two JKs with no complaints.

I use the rugged ridge locks as well. They seem to be very good quality and I haven't experienced any issues.

Bolt, my choice. Hood lock, gas cap lock, receiver pin. All keyed to factory door key. I even have a cable lock for my E Bike, all same key.
Agreed great product, but they don't have a solution for those with trail cameras.

I'll start by saying that determined enough any thief could eventually get through a hood lock or other deterrent, hence the name 'theft deterrent" instead of theft prevention.

In my case and most others, it is because the most common methods for steeling Wranglers/Gladiators involves opening the hood to access the fuse block and perhaps other things. It adds a more significant barrier.

Reduces risk as many are thefts of opportunity. Some just want a battery, some want other accessories or equipment. There may be some amateurs who believe they can open a hood and get it started.

If they have to open the hood, they aren't smart or well equipped.

OEM. Even if you’re on the Mexican border, theft is less common than lightning strikes. Misplacing the keys to your hood or losing the lock to your wheels is common as the cold. You’re walking home either way…
