Just contacted a local shop about getting some new wheels and tires (BFG KM3) and they suggested I go with Toyo, Nitto, Yoko, Cooper or Mickey Thompson because they've been having balance and wear issues lately with BFG's??? Anyone heard of this?

I’ve not heard of balancing issues. I’ve had BFGoodrich KM3’s ordered from America’s/Discount Tire for 5 weeks. I was recently informed they are on back order until some time in May. Also was told by salesperson there’s a delay in getting Ridge Graplers as well.

Maybe that’s why they were wanting me to go with something else.

no. I have KM3's now and had many BFG's over the years and never had balancing problems.
I’ve heard many great reviews. That’s why I thought it was strange.

Guy messaged again and said the BFG sidewalls were “way too soft” and he wouldn’t put them on his Gladiator even if they were 75% off.

@Panther69, the tires you have listed are all solid brands along with BFG. We have not seen unusual balancing issues with BFG.

If we can help with your choice please let us know.

Time for a new tire shop, just sayin'.

Have you got a decent local 4x4 shop you can work with? I've been buying all my tires from my local guy for 15 years. I've been running BFG's since '97, and other offroad tires, and no, I've not had any issues with balancing or anything else (see first sentence). I do keep coming back to BFG's.....

I've had KO2s on my JT now since November of 2019 with no issues. Also had the same type on two Tacomas I owned before I got the Jeep and no issues there either.

With over 200k on various sizes of the ko2 never had a sidewall issue. Ran 35s on the jlur and 37s on the jtr. And 33s on the jkur Now I saw pictures of the Duratracs with a 1/2, stick poking through the side wall. And thought uh uh

I wanted to add that when I was getting prices from the tire places I thought about asking at the dealer where I bought the Gladiator. Totally surprised me when their price was 2 bucks a tire less than that of the tire shops! Now here is the benefit, they rotate them free with the Jeep Wave oil change program as OEM tires. I've heard here in the forum of guys being refused rotations when putting aftermarket wheels and tires on their new vehicles.

I have, 37 KO2s, I bought mine online mounted and balanced and they rode horrible, wouldn't recommend buying online for sure unless they are shipping to a local store. I had to take them to a local shop for balancing, took him over 2 hours, sounds like my case this is rare for BFG, just learned not to buy online.

I've had two Wave oil changes and zero pushback about non-OEM tires.
