Blind Spot and Cross Path Detection in the Rain...

On my way into the office today, there was a moderate rain during my 20 mile commute. I noticed that I was not always receiving a visual alert on my mirror if a vehicle was present or not. Has anyone else experienced this? I typically double check in any case, but today was like a 50/50 shot whether or not it detected a vehicle. I am not sure this is normal.

There are a lot of sensors out there that won’t work in rain. The only one that keeps working are the eyes in your head. IMO these sensors and warning systems are AIDS and nothing more. They are not to be depended on. That’s why I don’t buy them.

Maybe I’ll consider it when they start using rain penetrating types of LIDAR.

Agree that they are aids and not to be relied upon. My ACC worked fine; just to share.

I've had the light on the mirror come on, even when nothing was there, while raining. I think just one of those things that happens from time to time.

Pointless marginally reliable electronics. Give me my eyes, mirrors, and a neck to turn my head. No trust at all for the blinky-light crap.

You can turn the beep on and off in settings, I will say so far I’ve gotten a lot less false readings with the Jeep than my wife’s 2016 Volvo. The technology keeps getting better, just an aid I know but I’m ok with any help I can get.

Just noticed since it’s getting colder that when I put on the rear window defroster the BSM is temporarily unavailable....scheduled a appointment at the dealership.
just noticed today, driver’s side heated mirror isn’t working....thinking the issue is related.

Odd, mine works fine rain or shine. So far no false alerts and it does tell me when something is there. And I drove through our derecho a few months back - wind-driven torrential rains, wind enough to blow larger trucks off the highway.

Yeah I was surprised the other day I was in some pretty serious sideways Florida rain and the Jeep system was totally fine, my trust in it gave out before it did. I’ve had a couple of false collision warnings on the freeway but it was sunny and nice when those happened the ACC was not on.

Mine acts up with raining sometimes. It also "sees" my trailer back there and comes on from time to time while towing.
