Anytime I am traveling faster than about 55 mph, I can't really use my phone Bluetooth in the Gladiator. Almost everyone is reporting a significant background noise. I hear them crystal clear, but they hear a steady white noise, assuming wind noise. I have the 8.4 u connect system and hard top. It's not just a "jeep thing" either, I immediately went back in my JK and used same phone on Bluetooth and called same people and drove same speed with no issue. Any ideas?

I thought that The Bluetooth speaker was not supposed to be used as an additional truck speaker while rolling down the road. I thought it was supposed to be used as a speaker that you take out of the truck and play music on it while you are sitting somewhere away from the truck. Or am I mistaken here?

Do you unlock your phone before starting the rig?

Hi WNCJEEP,
We understand why this may be frustrating. We suggest having your dealer inspect this concern if you have not done so already. We are also available via private message if you would like any additional assistance during that process.

The Bluetooth speaker, when connected in the truck, is part of the system.

However, that's not what OP is discussing. He may not even have the BT speaker. He's discussing talking on the phone over BT and the person on the other end hearing noise.

Have you tried covering the mic with your hand while on a call to see if the person notices a change? This could be an overly sensitive mic, or a vibration, or something else.

Microphones pick up strange noises that we don't always hear. I would try covering it first to see. Then look for a potential vibration somewhere in the cabin or around the mic.

Correct about the OP. I disagree however about the removable speaker being in use while in the doc. My understanding is the doc is charging only and the speaker does not play with the car radio. I would love to see your source if you still feel differently.

There is a video review from TFL Truck when the Gladiator was at the 2018 LA Autoshow. At the 12 minute 23 second mark Mark Allen Head of Jeep Design said "there is a removable BT speaker. And the speaker runs when you're just using the speaker in the truck too"

That statement could be interpreted as it's only charging. My interpretation was it runs with stereo. I could be wrong. And I certainly never intend to throw out incorrect information. So if my interpretation is incorrect, my apologies.

It sounds like OP has no issue with BT working. He's the issue is the mic picking up background noise at speed.
If the phone is locked it may be causing the problem within the system itself. The phone OS security may be interfering with the connection, hence why Iā€™m asking.

I suppose. If there is a UConnect issue.

But using CarPlay, in other vehicles, doesn't require the iPhone to be unlocked prior to starting the vehicle.

I personally use a Galaxy S10+, but my girlfriend is an iOS user. We have a Macan, 718 Cayman, and Fiesta ST that all have CarPlay. Once the phone is connected to the system and setup the first time, there is no additional need to unlock the phone first.

I understand users have experienced issues with CarPlay and UConnect. I've read the issues thread and the resolutions provided. For all I know the issue could be iOS. No idea. But under normal use CarPlay doesn't require an unlock prior to starting.

I would ask OP if, when this problem appears, is the connection BT only? Regardless, I would bet it's a vibration or mic issue.

Since youā€™re not the OP, and since he hasnā€™t responded to any of this, WTF?

I'm confused by the approach here. It wasn't my attempt to be combative or insulting. Apologies if something in my writing or tone came across in that way.

OP stated when using his iPhone over BT at or above certain speeds the person on the other end of the line hears white noise. When he said BT, I assumed the phone wasn't directly connected via USB. That might be an incorrect assumption on my part.

So as ongoing troubleshooting, I was asking OP, is the phone also connected via USB when this problem occurs.

Regardless, I still suspect the issue is a mic issue based on his description. And since he asked for suggestions or thoughts, I was attempting to provide those.

Once again, not my intention to be combative here. Just trying to help.

Interesting discussion. Lol. The issue is the same wether I'm on BT or Android Auto, only an issue over 55 mph. I think it is Mic insulation issue letting wind noise get to it. I'll see what dealer can do.

On similar note, when I use android auto to make calls, the front driver side speaker doesn't work. It comes on instantly when I unplug android auto.
