Anybody been through it? I'm feeling it the last couple of days. While I think I got a good price, it's a lot of money. I felt this once before after buying a brand new 2012 Ram Laramie 3500. I ended up selling it off after two years and 45,000 miles, losing $5k + tt&l, which wasn't too bad for the miles driven.

It's been made worse by the fact that Geico jacked my insurance on the Gladiator up $40 per month only 6 weeks into ownership. Sure, $40 might seem like pocket change, but that's after large increases the past two years, too. I just can't justify spending $160 per month for car insurance on this thing at my age. I have no tickets, no claims, etc.

I'm so unsure about things now that I actually checked blue book to see what the private party value is. It may seem insane, but with only a bit over 1,000 miles I have seriously cold feet. Not sure why I am out on the ledge right now.

I don't know your financial situation, but with the world the way it is right now I think it prudent to have a capable vehicle, like the Gladi, that you can use to get you and your family the heck out of dodge if necessary.

Thank you for the reply. I don't have any other debt, so I'm not buried or anything. It's just that I really hemmed and hawed over this thing, took the leap, then have been struck a bit with buyer's remorse lately. I guess I was just wondering if anybody else felt it. It may go away. I do love driving it.

To be honest I have never suffered from buyers regret. I guess it's because I spend a LONG time thinking about something before I make the leap.

I do suffer from sellers regret from time to time, but as I get older that is fading.

I would say enjoy it, and really use it.

That's the best way to truly fall in love with whatever you are using.

I change my Jeeps frequently. I do get buyers remorse but it goes away after a few days or in a couple of weeks. A few months later I get the itch again and I swap em. Wash, rinse repeat. If you swap it, you will get buyers remorse again regretting the trade but that will also go away.
My wife thinks I need psychiatric analysis. :) But financially I don't lose much on Jeeps as they retain the value (depending on trim) and I take advantage of dealership specials. But I go through various powertrains, between Wranglers and Gladiators - I know, I am an extreme case but it is what it is.
But I invest in stocks, and I spend the money on Jeeps from gains in the stock market so I don't have much guilt about it.

Are we twins?
I need to make sure my wife reads your post. I’m glad that I’m not the only one ?

What would you be paying to insure a Civic or Corolla? I went from a Ranger to the Gladiator and it was like an extra $7/six months. What I found appalling in my research was that buying something I didn't want really didn't save me that much. The prices on vehicles is up on everything. I looked at Maverick, for instance. All dealers had were 27, 30 grand and it really was a lot more cheap feeling than the Ranger. Insurance wasn't that much less.

I really miss the old Ranger in size and simplicity, but alas! I wish Toyota would sell a basic Hilux here, but nope. I find the new Tacoma to be ugly, and cheaper feeling than the old model. Under the hood looks like a rats nest and I don't want a turbo. They're not cheap, either.

For me the Gladiator was a good size. I can actually reach into the bed without needing a ladder. With the discounts I got it was cheaper or not much more than a lot of alternatives. I mean, even compact SUVs are 30 grand now. Plus, as a bonus it's a convertible, and a true Jeep.

Sounds like you need to make a run in your new Jeep!! - I think you're having what anyone could have after a large purchase, which has already been stated can happen with any vehicle...get some smiles per mile and do a couple of mods and you'll feel better!!! :jk:

I get it every time. I have only had one used car in my lifetime and that was my first car my parents gave me a 69 Buick Lesaber for
high school graduation in 77 . After that it's been new vehicle ever since, car and or motorcycle ,and every time I get that feeling . It does go away after you drive it more and if you enjoy driving it . If you do not enjoy driving it and don't look at it in the garage everyday and give it a thumbs up... well you did not get what you really wanted and then and only then you need to move on get something that will make you feel that way . I am retired and do not drive a hole lot but when The wife says can we have pizza tonight I am happy to jump in my Mojave to go pick it up . ?

sound like you need some offroad therapy. nothing staves off that "why the hell did i spend 40-50k for this?", When your deep in God's country with no service, an amazing view, and sharing a brewski with the boys. Knowing the only thing that got you there and will get you out, is your sweet JT Rubicon. Buyers remorse tends to come from a lack of fulfillment in whatever one has purchased. Why did u buy your JT? Have you gone forth and used it for the reason you bought it? And your reason doesn't have to be offroad. It can be anything. but it must have a reason. Some buy just for their inner child, some buy it for attention at shows, some for charity, some for a capable commuter. the list goes on. At some point you said to yourself you just had to have one. Its easy to get wrapped up in the "now what?". So go do it, just do it. It isn't made of porcelain. Its 2.5 tons of hardened American steel and sex appeal on wheels. The only limit is your thirst for adventure and the size of your balls. You own an icon of rugged individualism, now go make some damn memories with it. You only live once and you could die tomorrow. Fuck cold feet, fuck regrets, fuck doubt. You can't go back and you can't stay here. You can only move forward. sometimes its down and sometimes its up. The only thing you control is your outlook on it, and owning a JT Rubicon is one hell of a place to start. So foot down, eyes forward and hold on. Happy Trails!

I stressed over a spreadsheet for a couple months before ordering my truck.

It was expensive but I needed more doors and a bed. Came from a smaller vehicle.

I like the truck - no regrets. Bought knowing the market would probably turn on me, but it wasn't practical for me to keep waiting around and making the rest of my life inconvenient. It wasn't bought as a second vehicle or as a toy. It was bought as a daily driver with specific functions in mind. My second driver and my third driver (toy 1 and toy 2) are paid off.

I only felt it when I bought an '05 Grand Cherokee with the intention of a small lift and bigger tires. The surface rust I thought on the undercarriage wasn't "surface". Sold it for a little profit.
As far as insurance goes, shop around. We do so every couple of years and always find a better rate with the same coverage.

Either way, good luck with your decision.

I guess I have been in the same spot to some degree in the past. It is hard when you put out this kind of money for these trucks, especially when you may have traded in a perfectly good one for it.

It will go away over time. While you may be fretting over the cost of insurance now and want to entertain getting rid of it, just remember the financial hit for depreciation will be way more in terms of cost.

Been a few threads of late on the subject, but shop around for another insurance carrier. Loyalty is no longer reward by any of these Tier 1 insurance companies. Sometimes you have to cut bait and go elsewhere, even if you are packaged with other policies with them.
