Not gonna happen. Residuals were calculated absurdly high when the Gladiator launched and there wasn't a plain Sport to be found so I'd find it hard to believe that anyone got that deal then and can with near certainty say it won't happen now.

Right after I saw that article, I stopped by the local dealer. The pricing was news to them. One of the salesman said he ran a lease on a Sport S out of curisioty and it came out to about $500 per month for a three year lease.

Yeah this was from before they even made a base Sport. Things were so crazy at launch and through the summer. The lease deals like that never appeared. I don't think anyone got anywhere near that low of a lease deal. $143 a month Jeep wouldn't have been able to build enough of them.

They are asking for 3400 down on it. On a 24 month lease this brings the payment up 146 a month.

It also mentions nothing about taxes, registration or titling fees.

Hit the phones. I found a 328 a month for 39 months with 12k miles a year, with tax, doc fee, acquisition fee, registration and first month due at signing ($2800). It was on a 47k truck. I wound up not going with this truck though.

I’ll gladly put $3400 down if it’s $146/mo. I only want 24 mo, I get bored quick. 12 mo would be better lol.

So you are saying you would rather pay more up front than just to pay it out over 24 months?

It was not 146 a month. It is the advertised price plus 146 a month (143 + 146) which comes to 289. And on top of that there are other fees.

Article was from April 2019, hardly surprised it's news to the dealers...good luck trying though! :)

I agree. Ain't gonna' happen.

If anything, leases are going to start getting a lot more expensive now that guys are getting 10-15% off MSRP on "buys" and FCA is putting cash on the hoods as inventory sits on dealer lots. Look for residuals to keep slowly dropping, and lease payments to keep slowing increasing.

It's a big surprise, but those of us who leased as soon as these trucks were hitting the lots will end up most certainly having to turn the truck in at end of lease because buying it would immediately put us into negative equity.

The leasing companies are going to have to take a bath on these. I wonder if they will in some way incentivise the lessee to buy the truck and the end of lease.

I got mine at a 66% residual, which seems about right for 39/12. Not sure how high some of you early leases got on your residuals.

When I ordered mine in May 2019, they were at 70% on 48 months.

66% on 39 months, and I'm guessing here, would probably equal roughly 64% on 48 months. That's a huge hit from where they were several months ago. That's a change of almost $3,000 by the end of the lease.

I agree, it does make a guy wonder how the lease company, in my case Chrysler, will handle this when these leases come to the end.
