For some reason I was u DWR the impression that the rear differential could be locked in 4High. Tried it while on the beach this weekend and it said I need to be in 4Low. Is there a way to lock rear in 4High? Educate a novice, please ...

I guess so, if you say so...
I put my truck in 4h rear locked yesterday...

Engage 4h... toggle rear lockers only... and wait... Worked for me...

You driving a rubicon?
Yes, rubicon. Will fiddle with it again tomorrow.

I thought they kept bragging that on the JT you could lock it in 4hi for sand mode. #fakenews

@JeepCares can you fill us in on this? During the preproduction reveal and interviews and press events executives at Jeep stated that the JT would have this feature however users and the manual say that it is not a feature. This is one of the reasons I upgraded to the rubicon. I will be disappointed if it is not included as I purchased it based off information that came from your executives.

Thanks,

Isn't this part of the Off Road + feature on the Rubicons? Perhaps you need to select that option first before engaging?

Can anyone find the interview where they said that?

I recently returned from several weeks in Namibia in a 79 Series LC and we used the rear locker in 4 high several times running up the dunes. It was really nice to have...

I don’t think they were referring to locking. They were referring to off-road+. Here are the pages from the manual that touches on this. Off-road+ when in 4 high is supposed to help with sand.

Perhaps Jeep marketing folks are confused between a physically locked differential and a brake locked differential? No one ever said the suits actually knew anything right?

I did try the Off Road + feature while driving in the sand at the beach. It made a noticeable difference. But i had no idea what it was doing. Definately higher RPM before shifting, and it felt like better traction. But i wasn't sure if that was just the RPMs or what. In any case, it drives like a champ in the sand.

I guess the solution would be to install a Tazer: SEE BELOW

Axle Locker control (Rubicon) – Engage lockers in 2WD and 4Hi on demand.

I believe the off road plus mode in 4 High is for sand/mud which should lock the rear end. Check the off road pages when you are wheeling...it should show you what’s locked and not
