I never waxed mine on my JK I just wiped it down with Mothers Protectant.

Looked good as new after 6 years.

Cerakote has a product that is supposed to protect it and keep it dark black. I have not personally used it, but the videos look good

I wouldn't wax it, I don't have the black top, but isn't it like a textured plastic? Think that would be a fail.

Something like Beadmaker would help to protect it and bead water, I use it on my plastics all the time with great results.
