Good Morning ya’ll,
I tend to be ’social media challenged’ (and on purpose). I belong to 12-20 PRIVATE hobbyist groups, and maybe under 200 friends.
I used to have Facebook figured out (for the most part). Had all my preferences setup to reduce the ads, yadda yadda yadda….
I’d have dry spells of nothing but pure bliss in my newsfeed. Then….the ads would sneak in and I’d ‘hide’ all that shit all over again. It’d be nice for a good while….then they’d pop back in.

Well…something happened here recently……My news feed is full of stuff that FB generates. Granted, it is stuff that I’m into (hobbies) but I just don’t want all that in my face. I’d rather it say…”Sorry, you’re all caught up, go do something else with your time” kinda thing. 😃
They’ve made it sooo much more difficult to adjust your ad preferences… I’ve cleared my ‘cache’ on both my phone & ipad. I’ve tried hiding all that shit….to no avail…..

Is it just me…or did the algorithm and the FB change— just for me - to accommodate my unwillingness to play along?

It’s gotten so bad….. I just don’t spend nearly as much time there (probably a good thing). I come here instead…..😉
I’ll avoid my news feed altogether and just cruise thru ‘groups’.

I’m not going to delete this account and start over again - not unless they’d allow me to use the same email address.
I wished there was a way to RESET your account and clear everything. But…of course, you probably can’t do that either.

Thoughts?
Feeling old…… and grumpy. ☺😆
I know there are ad blockers & aps that you can download. The thought of having to sign up to yet another ‘account’ where everyone wants your email address. I get plenty of junk email already. 🙄 I should just take this as a ‘sign’ and stop doing FB. It’s a family communication tool…so I can’t stop completely.

You are not alone, I hit the "block profile" more then I read anything on FB. It's become all but worthless with the change. There was an add-on called "Social Fixer" that helped to tame FB but the developer hasn't updated it in a long time. I don't have the patience to deal with FB so I am spending less and less time on it (which is fine by me). I use Reddit some but it can be very toxic and political. Oddly enough forums I'm on (like this one) seem to have had an up tick in activity which is great.

If you use Messenger you can still drop Facebook and keep Messenger, one of my kids did that.
