Love the profile, big windows and slanted back. What is the weight limit on the roof?

150 lbs. More than I need. I'm putting two rigid 100 watt solar panels on there. You can see the extra thickness in the roof and it feels pretty solid. Since I ordered it, A.R.E. came out with their HD edition. Identical, but with a higher load rating.

I was actually thinking more, so I could lounge on top in a beach chair behind the outfield fence watching ballgames.

HD version holds 550lbs, BUT the outdoorsman side windows are not available with the HD. The frame interferes with the gas struts, apparently. Just FYI. Sucks, but I’m still going with the HD

I really had to think through it, but being in construction, I can crack the sliding windows for the dogs and keep the weight capacity for lumber, etc. I won’t be purchasing for a few months still, so maybe they’ll have it figured out by then

I’m not concerned with the load issues. I ran the same cap brand (just Z series) on my Tacoma and wheeled it (albeit not extreme) and has zero issues. That’s a Tepui Ruggedized Kukenam 3 that weights 160lbs with a Frontrunner rack which is another 60lbs or so and even an ARB awning at 50lbs.. I’m probably going Gofast Camper RTT on mine when it gets here.

My last cap was a Leer that I liked very much. I bought this because it was first out due the Gladiator. It feels sturdier, especially in the roof.

The A.R.E. Ascend Roof Rack is better than my previous Yakima and Thule racks. Aluminum but sturdy, it has auxiliary light and antenna mounting holes all around.. Mine is the full size 52"×55", and fills the roof nicely.

Did you go with the OTR coating or a flat black paint? It looks good either way. How well does it match up to the top?

I went with the satin black. I saw the OTR on another cap and it was not a great match (too rough IMHO). Plus the satin was over $300 less.
