Gears, Lockers, even the first ever 35 spline shaft upgrades. Now all in one place. I hope this helps Jeepers for years to come and to help new Jeep owners to understand why axles are such a big deal and require a lot of money for gear installs. This is for the Sport and Rubicons as the gears, axles, and lockers are all the same. Its the width and axle tube thickness on the OUTSIDE that are different. All JT axles are 32 spline. All JT axles are M210 front and M220 rear. Also surprisingly the Nissan Titan and Ford Bronco use Dana Spicer AdvanTEK axles.

Info Note:
Sport and S, Willys, Overland, the 80th, (non max tow) gasoline and diesels all have the standard width axles and only offer 3.73 gear ratio.
Only the Sport S w/ Max Tow, Rubicon, Mojave, and High Altitude have a thicker tubed (10mm), 1.5" Wide Track Axle. Gasoline are 4.10 gear ratio... all High Altitude’s and all Diesels are 3.73.

DIFF
The RD245 32 Spline and RD246 35 Spline are interchangeable rear to front and front to rear. You can change only the diff between the M210 and M220.

GEARS
The ring gear is not interchangeable. A M210 has to go in the front and the M220 has to go in the rear.

SHAFTS
Rubicon, Max Tow, and Mojave have thiccc boy tubes and are .75 wider per side. The diff inside is also offset.
!!!!You will need new shafts to run ARB lockers of any kind!!!!
ARB246 requires custom 35 Spline shafts

Sport and S, Willys, Overland, 80th, (non max tow), narrow axles. Still as strong at 32 Spline but must be ordered for ARB Super kits.
!!!!!! You CAN use stock shafts for ARB 245 front and rear!!!!!!!!
ARB246 requires custom 35 Spline shafts.

This information was compiled from Jeep engineer Scott Blum, and compilation from John Hartel.

Been watching your YouTube videos. Fantastic information and Great Post.
Thank you
Thank you. It has taken about a year to get all the details and to have real accounts of the axles internals but here it is. I hope the community takes off with this like you see in the obsessed Jeep Wrangler Community. We seem to be a bit sleepy around here compared to them. LOL

Compressor is in a bad spot and gets super hot even when it’s not in use. Drive around for 30mins then see if you can lay your hand on it for more then a few seconds.

That's the same spot I had it on my TJ for many years. The directions clearly state hot locations are ok. What it says is not a good location is next to the exhaust, which is where most put it. Then go on to spend money on a bracket that puts it next to the cat. Now that is a bad spot.

Has anyone physically confirmed this? That only the wide track axles have the thicker tubes? I have seen confusion and the misinterpretation of information about these axles since the day the gladiator was announced, but this is the first time I see someone claiming the 10mm thicker tubes are just on the wide track axles. I have yet to see a cut up of both standard and wide track axles.

I also forget, but don't all diesels get the wide track axles?

The rear axle short and wide is thick on all Jeeps. The front axle short is thinner and the wide is 10mm. Confirmed by dynatrac.

Front Axle

Pro Rock 13mm
Sport JT/JL 5.4mm
Sport JK 6.35mm
JT/JL Rubicon 10mm (not pictured)

Thanks to Tewltalk for your videos finished my front locker yesterday, checked it today no air leaks, no oil leaks and working like a charm. Already have the rear ARB RD246 and the custom made Axle shafts but wont be done to at least august because I'll be going away next week. If you ask me the hard part is working with the shims and drilling the Diff everything else comes out easy.

All Diesels got Wide axle.
My Overland Diesel got D44 Wide axle on build sheet.
Wondering if it got thicker tubes.
Also if it is thicker only front or both front and rear.
