  • Mid-Cycle Action [refresh] updating the Jeep Gladiator (JT) in 2023
  • Jeep Wrangler (JL) 4xe PHEV Upgrade in 2025
  • Jeep Gladiator (JT) 4xe PHEV Upgrade in 2025
  • Next generation Jeep Wrangler (J70) including BEV and REPB

Hmmm, the REVPB is interesting. Sounds exactly like what Audi did in their Dakar race entry vehicle.

I gotta think sales will be taking a hit on the JT if the only new powertrain option is in 25. The new models in the mid size market with their more powerful engines (and cheaper prices) the Ranger, Canyon and Toyota are all hitting with substantially more power are going to put a hurting on sales IMO. Stellantis really needs to somehow get the Hurricane into the JT.

Nice!!! I'm starting to buy in to the battery operated stuff. We are about to trade our BMW X5 50 for a Tesla Model 3 or Model S performance. After driving a Model 3 performance for 3 days I gotta say they are a joy to drive. My neighbor has a model 3 long range and it cost him around $43 a month to charge it at home and that gets him 300+ miles of driving each times he charges it. He drives around 1200 miles a month. He said it beats the $200 plus he was spending on his Mercedes E350 to drive the same distance. Wish they would make an all electric Gladiator instead of a Hybrid one.

I'm not anti EV, I'm just pro clutch pedal and shifter. If Honda can make a traditional hybrid with a manual transmission, I'm sure Stellantis can figure out a PHEV manual. Maybe use the crawler gear position (below reverse) as a battery only "gear"? I don't know, I'm not an automotive engineer. But until they figure that out or I have no choice, I'm not giving up my shifter.

Happy the slushbox crowd has a more powerful option than the 3.6 coming though, just won't be for me.

EVs don't need transmissions at all. The Porsche Taycan/Audi e-Tron GT have a 2-speed transmission but I think that's just typical needless German overcomplication. If the Tesla Model S Plaid can do 0-60 in 1.99 seconds without one, I'd argue they aren't necessary.

I'd love a Gladiator 4xe if they could keep the cost down, but I'm not paying another $10k-$15k over the already too high Gladiator 3.6 MSRP for it. We'll see how they price it, but I'm not optimistic.

True, and we have been looking at a Plaid and a just performance model S. I test drove a performance Model S and man the take off on that thing is unreal. Plus it's kinda Erie to drive if your not use to it because of how quiet they are. The EV's have come a long way and I agree with the No need for a Transmission statement.

Didn't realize acceleration was the only category to consider in automotive design. Audi and Porsche don't include transmissions for speed, they do it for efficiency. Want to eliminate range anxiety? Then you need more range. One of the ways to get it is to be more efficient at higher speeds. Transmissions do that for EVs just as well as ICEs.

But wait, according to a lot of folks on this forum the Gladiator was going to be discontinued any moment. 😜
I was among them. Jeep promised full electrified line by 2025. That either means 4xe by 2025 or axe. A 2024 refresh without 4xe appeared to be a sign. Glad to see i was wrong though.
