After yesterday's ride it's clear I need to do something to protect the control arm mounts for the rear control arms. Mine mounts took a beating

Has anyone installed any protection for these parts? Made some? Suggestions?

Thanks all

I was looking for frame side mounts protection and Rustyswere the only ones I found. The only Rockhard ones were for the axel end. At least that I could find.... I ordered a set from Rustys should be home when I get there...

Thanks!

Just be aware that the smaller front bolt hole may be a little off. It’s easy enough to drill out to fit correctly. I don’t know why they don’t change that just a bit.

+1

I added the Rusty’s and the one upper hole is still off.

I used air tools but you could use a deburring bit on a drill. You need to elongate the hole about 1/4-1/2 inch.

Remove the LCA, and use the bolt to get the guard in place. Then you will see how much you need to go on the hole that needs adjustment.

So just installed Rusty’s LCA skids, no need to drill it out. See my post on the belly dragging thread. Bottom line is put the lower far bolt in first and thread it but don’t tighten, then the control arm bolt, then the upper bolt then tighten them down.

Just installed the Rusty's today, don't see the point of worrying about the front hole that's misaligned. The JL version only has two bolts.

Was going to pull the trigger on Rusty's.....noticed that they only bolt to one side. I get that makes the stock bolt still the correct length. I will be under the truck later to see if making them is an option.

I think they could be made, but whether it is worth your time considering the price is another question.

I installed these last weekend and this is how I did it, too. On the driver side I couldn't contort my fingers enough to hold the nut for the front bolt so I just threw a piece of tape over it and stuck it up there and then threaded it on.

Now the Rock Hard rear LCA skids, that's a different story. Couldn't get the bracket holes to line up with the mounting bolt. I tried grinding the skid down but finally gave up. Next time I decide to tackle it I'll see if I can get a step bit in that hole to make it bigger.
