I have a Gator Rubicon on order for my wife.
This will be her daily driver (25mile one way backroads).
It will be getting the mopar 2" lift.

I can not decide if we should go with 35's or 37's.
I'm probably going to do an AT tire (maybe yokohama x-AT).
I did get the max tow package, and the Jeep will see occasional trail use, but nothing crazy.

I've looked through the forums and can't seem to get a good feel for what to do.
I love the look of the 37's but I know 35's make more sense for daily use.

I just don't want to regret not doing the 37's upfront.

Thanks!

I have an LE and went through the same decision making process. I ended up with stock height and 315/70R17 BFG K02's and am very happy. Drives great with tires at 35 PSI and just got 22 mpg on a 330 mile trip through mountain passes.

For better or worse, my Punk'n Rubicon will be have the 2" Mopar lift and 37" tires. I'm coming from a 2007 JKU with 35" tires and I expect to be mildly impressed with the change. I debated on 35s back and forth, and what took me over the edge was how much I scrape my belly right now. That sealed the deal on the 37s knowing I need every advantage in breakover angle.

I am having this same debate. I can’t decide on 35 or 37. It will be my daily driver, with light trail and 4x4 use. I know I’m probgoing with nitto ridge grapplers. Chime in 37 guys. Did the ride get very effected and did power go down? Stuff like that.

I'm mainly worried about the power decrease and maybe more wandering with the 37's and the potential to break an axel.

I am debating the same thing. I put 315/70 KO2’s on my JLU rubicon and it still feels like it had plenty of power around town although it won’t hold 8th gear on the highway and bounces between 7th and 8th. I’m pretty sure going to 37’s on the gladiator will pretty much eliminate 8th gear unless I’m going down hill. Ideally I would go to 37’s and change gearing but I’m not ready to spend the cash so I may go to 35’s until I can change gearing.

Yep, going with 37s will pretty much eliminate the value of 8th gear. Who cares? 1st is low enough with 4.10 gears, and 7th is already an overdrive gear. 7 is good enough for me.

I am debating the same thing. 35's or 37.. I don't have a lift and really don't want to add one but if I do it will be a few months down the road. But I have this feeling I will regret not doing the 37's if I don't.

I daily drive with 37's. I have the Sport S with Max Tow and it drives great! I put the lift and tires on at 700 miles so I dont have much of a basis for comparison from stock. I had the same tire/wheel setup on my JK with 373 gears and the difference from that is very noticeable. I dont get much out of 8th gear but at 75mph in 7th I'm at ~2200 rpm. I hear people talk about 20+ mpg and am pretty confused about that...I'm consistently at ~13.5 no matter how I drive.

Drove around 4,500 miles stock with Sport S Max Tow. Have had an Evo 2.5" lift and 38" Milestars for the last 1,000 miles.

I've seen 8th gear on flat sections of interstate (~70mph). It has plenty of power and acceleration for daily driving with the 4.10s.

You will lose a bit of peppiness, but it drives far better than my JKU with 35s and 3.73s.

If you're debating 35s and 37s, go with 37s. If you don't, you'll likely be back on the market within a year.

I just got my 37"s and lift installed this week, so I can tell you driving back to back on my LE there is little difference in power or braking (I don't drive aggressively though). I do notice the tires grab the even road surfaces a little more, but that is to be expected. Overall, I love it and would do it again in a heartbeat. You can check out pics in the Build/Rig journals under Freyja. If I did 35's I think no lift looks perfect as well...fine with the lift too, but dame the 37's look sick!

This is my quandary. I really don't want to lift it. At least not right away. I suspect the bug will bite me later. But I've had quite a few folks say the rubicon won't have a problem with 37"s without a lift. I am going with OEM wheels with a -18 offset ( I think that's right ).

I might call the local dealership and see if they have the mopar lift in stock
