Hey folks-
I am a Patreon supporter of Dan Grec. If you don’t know about him please find him on YouTube under “The Road Chose Me”

He is the guy who drove his first Jeep Wrangler (a 4 cylinder) from Alaska to the tip of South America then took another one around the entire African continent. This guy has more real world knowledge than any three other people alive on this planet when it comes to remote overlanding experience and all of it on a very low budget...

Anyway, he has just announced to his Patreon supporters that he is going to Australia and building a Gladiator to Overland all over the continent for about 12 to 15 months. This should be epic!

Check him out If you like remote travel.

He hasn’t given any details about what his build will consist of yet as far as which topper. He did say he is working with an Australian company for a GVWR upgrade that will allow him to carry more weight. Apparently it is just a shock and spring upgrade......

Probably ARB. They are just about done with their Gladiator system and we have requested springs to accommodate the Canopy Camper.

I've been following Dan's expeditions since he started building his diesel JKU for Africa (before he blew up the engine) but haven't jumped on the Patreon bandwagon. He did the first "patreon commercial" that really got me going so I signed up to see how this build goes. I look forward to seeing how he works this out. It's interesting that he has to buy in Australia and that the Gladiators are spec'd so differently there.

Thanks for the heads up. I've followed him for some time. First thing I thought when the Gladiator came out was it would be a perfect choice for him. He's been seeking more load capacity in a Jeep for quite a while.

Any updates?
Not much. He is still in Canada and will be shortly flying to Australia to purchase his Gladiator and begin his build. He has always been somewhat of a minimalist when it comes to modifying his Jeep’s so other than accessorizing it and maybe some different tires (he is sponsored by Yokohama) and possibly a spring/shock upgrade I don’t anticipate much more but who knows...

He's asked that there isn't too much revealed, so I'm not sure what a fair amount is. It's obvious that he has a different comfort level driving around Australia than Africa and his planning is even more minimalist than Africa was. He talked shit about my softopper, so I'm still mad at him right now. =oP
