For example check engine light came on. Stays on then goes out after vehicle is turned off. Restart vehicle and check engine light is off. You proceed to dealership and they pug it into their diagnostic system. They state that the vehicle has not flagged any codes. Hence no issue no problem. If that is true, then there shouldbe no reason for the check engine light to illuminate in the fist place. This is just the tip of my ice burg when it has come to eletrical issues in experiencing. Can anyone EXPLAIN to me why said idiot lights can or are not being stored?

Do not know if this applies to the Gladiator but in my F250 if the light went out the issue had resolved it's self and a code would not be stored.

The issue I have is that it seems as though if an error occurs (idiot lights) there is a potentially a problem and there is no means of storing or trapping the issue to assisit in the diagnosing of that problem. It may be a trivial problem, but it could be a cascading problem due to the interdependence of all the electsonic sensor that are now built into our cars electronic system.

Simply not tightening the gas cap properly can cause a check engine light. If you get gas and properly tighten it, the light will eventually go away.

You can get a cheap Bluetooth OBD2 scanner dongle and pull the codes when this happens. Then you can at least give the dealership some direction if it’s not on when you take it in and it’s not a simple error, like said gas cap.
