Both Napelton and Arrigo in Palm Beach Fl are $5k above MSRP. Neither will let you test drive a gladiator

She who must be obeyed and I went to a local dealer Friday evening for a test drive. Last month they had one and would not allow a test drive. Now they have 3, all in the showroom and started some BS about in-demand, people don't want one if it has miles on it, etc. I said that's a load of crap and turned to leave and all the sudden their story changed and we were allowed a short 2 mile trip around the block. Their pricing is MSRP plus a few add-ons like tint.

Well, I've looked at Gladiators for 2-3 years waiting on their arrival. Waiting to trade in my old 2010 Ram Laramie1500 and being patience saying that is what I am going to buy next. Two weeks ago I test drove my first Gladiator and loved it, but felt it was a little small being use to the Ram 1500 driving them for over 20 years. I can get over the size thing. After test driving the exact Gladiator I wanted with all the options, color, etc., I sat down with Banks Crossing CDJ in Commerce, GA and tried to talk fair numbers. First off, they low balled me on my KBB trade by $3k and then tagged an additional "reflective marketing for the area" of $3k on top of the full price MSRP. I offered $55k and $10K for my truck trade-in for the Gladiator and they wouldn't even discuss it, saying the Gladiator will sell to another customer for their price by they end of the day. Obviously this is complete price gouging upping the cost to $64k+ ($3k over MSRP) and leaving a bad taste to a point where got up and left the dealership. I will never return to Banks Crossing CDJ as a customer again. Oh and by the way, that same Gladiator I made an offer on is still sitting on their lot 2 weeks later. It could have been in my garage and they would have made a nice profit off my fair offer.

A few days later, I went to another dealership to try again on another Gladiator that didn't have exactly what I wanted in options, but close. They didn't try to gouge up the price over MSRP, but would not come off the full MSRP price and offered $4K below the KKB trade in price on my truck trade. Then I starting looking at the newly redesigned 2019 Ram 1500 Limited fully loaded with every bell and whistle they come with for MSRP of $71k. Obviously not going to pay $71k for a truck. But after test driving and some back and forth with dealer incentives and trade of my truck, we settled on $51k. I felt like I did pretty well at $20k below MSRP after the trade of my old truck for brand new state of the art technology vehicle. Even though the new Ram Limited is just absolutely beautiful, I still find myself wishing the Gladiator was in my garage versus another Ram. I will still get a Gladiator when all of this new truck-itis is over and the price comes down a little more reasonable without all the hype. Maybe that will be sooner than later as I have been watching what is on the dealer lots with current Gladiator inventory. I don't see these Gladiators just flying off the lots as soon as they arrive and most seem to be sitting. Probably customers like me with the same disappointment of gouging to a point of feeling ripped off. I still want a Gladiator and will get one eventually, but at the same time have to feel like I bought something at a fair price.

Until then? Yeah, I'm the guy that just bought the fully loaded new "full sized truck for (better than) the same price".
Do I feel good about it? Not really, probably should have just gotten the new Gladiator instead and be happier in the end.

Oh well, there is always next time...

So around me here in GA pretty much all the dealerships are advertising above MSRP.

Mall of Georgia Jeep $3000 over MSRP. $61,245 MSRP / $64, 245 listed online
Hendrick Jeep in Duluth $12,183 over MSRP. $59,090 MSRP / $71,273 listed online
Hayes Jeep in Gainesville $995 over MSRP. $61,275 MSRP / $62,270 listed online

A dealership I wasn't even aware of was the only one listing at MSRP Banks Crossing Jeep in Commerce.

If anyone has found a dealership in North GA willing to sell under MSRP let me know. I am waiting for a Sting Gray but keeping an eye on which dealers ares scalping now so I know who to avoid when the time comes.

Bank Crossing quoted me $3,000 over MSRP. I made a realistic fair offer and they wouldn’t budge, therefore I walked out. This was 2 weeks ago and that same Rubicon Gladiator still sits on their lot today. I’ll never step foot on their lot again. Burning Bridges!

I'd add Nyle Maxwell Jeep in Austin to the list. They have a Gladiator sport (no max tow package) with a factory sticker of $45,660 on sale for only $52,986. I saw it a few days ago and there was nothing done to it like a lift or wheels to warrant a 7k+ increase.
Just wanted to be fair and update this. They have finally added a 2" lift and a set of not super attractive KMC wheels to the sport, along with moving it out to the prime corner of the lot.

I get the need for wanting something now, but if you had waited 3-6 months for the newness to wear off on the Gladiator launch, you could have negotiated more reasonable numbers.

Good luck with the Ram.

I received an email from my local Jeep dealer, Crossroads Jeep, Prince George, Virginia saying they were extending their Memorial Day sale till May 31st. I responded with "what percent below invoice are you selling Gladiators"?

Their response was: "Because of market demand right now we are selling the Gladiators with a 5 thousand bump sticker I will eliminate that for you and sell it to you at regular MSRP."

I test drove a Rubicon a couple weeks ago and talked to both the Sales Manager and the General Manager and got NO WHERE, so I'm not surprised by the internet salesman's response.

Add Bayshore Jeep in Baytown, Texas to the list of dealers charging over MSRP. Went to go see a Rubicon freshly unloaded off of the truck and they were about to pile on the dealer add-ons (tint, nitrogen tires, wheel locks, fabric protection, etc.) for about $2,000. I told them that I wouldn't buy if if they started adding that to it. When we sat down to discuss numbers, I saw an "Accessories" line on the sheet for $5,299. I asked what it was and they told me it was $5,000 dealer markup and $299 wheel locks. I walked away at that point. The sales manager told me that everyone in town was doing it and I told him I had walked away from a deal the day before where I was being offered slightly lower than MSRP and he said go back to them and buy that one because he's not budging off of the market adjustment.

That's about what i would expect from that place. I've had horrible experiences at just about all of the Baytown dealerships looking for a used car for my daughter. i ordered my JT from Steve at the Mac Haik dealership up by Austin and he was a pleasure to deal with. very straight forward and open. if you don't mind the drive i would give him a shout and see what he could do they are offering nice deals on orders right now, and he is a sponsor on the forum.

According to the Jeep search tool, there are 48 JT's here in the North VA area. I've been looking regularly and the numbers have stayed about the same. Not sure how often the website is updated, but the JTs don't seem to be flying of the lots around here. I'm waiting till December. One dealer here, Lindsay in Manassas VA, is selling at around 3% below MSRP, they have like 10 JTs on the lot. I'm in no hurry.

Actually just ordered my Rubicon from him yesterday. Don't mind waiting a few months and looking forward to a little road trip weekend with the Mrs. bringing it home.

Many of the NY dealerships on Long Island have stated that they are either at MSRP, or in the case of 1 dealer, 5-6k over sticker according to the salesman.

How long typically does it take Travis from TriCity to get back to everyone? It's been a week and I don't want to bug him if he's backed up with all the orders (I can't help but be impatient. It's not even like I can order my color yet, but it'd be nice to have an initial conversation for expectations, plus I'm tired of checking out other dealers and would like to lock in my loyalty)

Anyone have any good experiences with dealers closer to NY, other than Travis in NC? He seems to be the closest to me if I am going to trek to another state.

Just got off the phone with DENNIS DILLON in Idaho, who advertise "best price in the nation" "we won't be beat". Selling their Gladiators at MSRP. No markup... but I'm sure they will add something on the back end.

That ain’t no where close to being the best in the nation. Travis at Tri-City has that beat by a long long long shot, way below cost price. Run from that guy, Run Forest run.
