Heading to DV for Memorial Day weekend. Those that have been, what do you recommend doing while there ?

That time of year, driving and hiking in the Panamint range. The elevation should be enough to provide pleasant weather for being outdoors.

From Phoenix so heat really doesn’t bother us and we are well versed on how to deal with it outdoors.

I would recommend the Pleasant Canyon/South Park loop. This provides a high elevation option for camping, and has lots of old mines and cabins to explore. You can also use the latter for camping if you chose. Note that this loop includes Chicken Rock, so a good spotter is recommended. I did this when my JTR was stock, but 35’s and a 2” lift would make it easier.

I would drive Titus Canyon again in a heartbeat, super geological experience!

My wife was a Phoenician for 29 years, used to like hiking up Piestewa Peak near her house, but always early in the morning!

She give me geology lessons wherever we go and now I know how many freaking volcanos are scattered all over the Southwest - I really had NO idea. SO, be advised, there is a recent volcano to visit in Death Valley!

Another vote for Titus Canyon. Beautiful rock formations.

I agree about Titus Canyon. Another beautiful spot is Racetrack Playa. There are some spots to camp around it too. Just an otherworldly kind of place.
