Hey everyone! I traded in my Mojave last year before heading out on deployment and have an EcoD Sport S on order. I've been reading a ton of these diesel specific threads and appreciate all the info flying around.
What I can't seem to find though is how the DEF sensors work.
My goal here is to understand how to troubleshoot these things so I can get back to civilization if I end up with one of the errors some people seem to have. Any help you all can provide will be greatly appreciated.
1. How many DEF sensors do we have, for the DEF tank?
2. It seems like they're optical sensors, anyway to clean them and get them back in the game?
3. anyone have an idea of what sort of signal they send to the computer? Are we talking small variations of voltage to indicate full/empty DEF tanks? If that's the case couldn't we create a temporary solution to fool the ECU to avoid the 500 mile countdown while on the trail?
Last but not least, I have no intention of deleting any of the emission controls anytime soon. I realize that's an option for some of you, but not a conversation I'm after in this thread. Thanks.
