well i done broke my alternator. part 68292739AB is the replacement, but unknown backorder at this time. anyone know of any aftermarket or upgrades? I have an order in, but no jeep till then is a huge sad panda.

On the new ones it usually cooks the diodes and the rebuild shops don't carry all of them and we are out of luck..

I can check but bet even my supplier doesn't have much for parts for anything in the last 5 years. Anything older, I can get.

At least your not on here bitching that my jeep should take whatever I throw at it and it’s a piece of shit cuz the alternator went bad! Glad to see you own it and are not blaming the mfg.!!! Get it fixed soon as ya can and get back to it !lol

glad you are owning the damage, but what happened to the days you could dunk your alt and not worry about it? These newer alts have switching in them to turn them on and off as needed to save MPG, I wonder if you can retro fit a simpler setup?

Getting some mud on the alt isn't that uncommon, you are the second person I read about with a dead alt after some mud.

I thought that was the PCM that did the switching since it's controlling the field on these things........
The PCM does this based on information from the IBS. The control isn't in the alternator, it's in the PCM - 35 senses system voltage, 32 controls the field and the PCM bases things on the info gathered and charted (literally) by the IBS over the LINbus.
