Ahhh. I see.

I routinely suffer with tunnel vision.

Just cleaned up the smaller original BPD assembly I was using on my truck and rebuilt it with a brand new cooler core.

Also have one of new larger assemblies built and ready for a home.

If anyone is interested in either one of these then please message me…

These are the last two available units — probably not going to be making any more of them.

Mounts to the frame tusks beneath the front bumper (see picture).

The large unit is sold, another person has expressed interest in the remaining smaller unit but hasn’t finalized the purchase yet…

Small unit is $450 with a new core, 5/8 hose, and clamps.

I picked up the larger one and it is even nicer up close than the pics show. Factory or better. Looking forward to installing. We are towing this weekend and should be able to tepeat this route soon after to see how much cooling improvement is gained. Thanks @Primer Gray! Cool dude and excellent engineering!

I was out running errands today and watching the oil and coolant temps. Coolant hung out around 205 and oil temp stayed around 217. This was with 34 degree outside temp. I was thinking it would be of more benefit to cool the oil. Came up with this idea: Weld two fittings in oil pan one on each side and one higher than the other. Run a suction from low fitting through a pump, through a spin on filter housing (with one quart filter), to an air to fluid cooler then back to the pan through the other fitting, This would keep the engine oil pump out of the equation, add volume and cooling. What do all think?

I was thinking it would keep extra load off the engine oil pump, move a lot more volume and keep all the plumbing down low between the frame rails. An added bonus would be another filter that would be cheap and easy to change.

I would think something that flat would make oil changes a challenge.

Would it be better to try to cool the oil more or the coolant more to solve the overheat/derate problem? I guess both in a perfect world,
I was just trying to help with a workable solution.

An oil bypass doesn't put any additional strain on the oil pump. It simply bypasses approximately 10% of the oil and sends it through a secondary filter. You could mount the oil filter anywhere, including on the frame rail. That's where I installed the bypass filter on my Ram Cummins.
