Has your EcoDiesel Engine had any critical issues?

  • My CP4 pump has failed, accidentally let vehicle run out of Diesel causing air ingestion into supply

12,500 miles with the DEF software screwing with my world 1 time, flashed firmware on National recall Y-81 I believe and all good since.

Also had the issue with the auto start/stop battery not charging correctly, but that is not a diesel specific issue.

Live in ND and it started life with 20+ days of 100* F or higher last summer and into-40*F without windchill over the winter. For all intents and purposes been solid vehicle.

Would have ZERO hesitation in recommending it to any Jeep owner regardless of model. Smooth torque and sweet shifting auto tranny is awesome.

Did you have any issue in that cold of weather with the Diesel not getting up to temperature? Did you consider a radiator soft cover?

Almost 11k and no engine related issues. I have said it here before, if you get regular highway miles to enable mostly/ exclusively passive regens the aftertreatment system functions in pretty unobtrusive manner. Not to mention the great fuel economy (for a brick at least), excellent torque for takeoffs, highway cruising, and towing. Lots of smiles per gallon:like:

33k miles, no engine issues. I just had the DEF reprogramming recall done within the past 500 miles. My engine overheats when I tow my travel trailer in the summer, but other than that, it runs pretty well.
