The GPS tracking ability in the 8.4 Uconnect does not have a user option to disable. The tracking data is not available to the user, unless they are paying the yearly fee to use the service. Is there an easy way to disable the factory tracking/GPS?
The GPS navigation. I have a Willys and I believe that function came with the premium audio groupWhat GPS tracking are you talking about as I do not have that on mine
i don’t use the Uconnect and I think I’ll let it expire. I suppose they will still track me and sell my data. The GPS tracking ability in the 8.4 Uconnect does not have a user option to disable. The tracking data is not available to the user, unless they are paying the yearly fee to use the service.
The dealer installed options can just be disconnected. They are usually near the OBD port.
They use the data in-house for research and development. The data is not worth much without links to identifying markers. Your phone tracks everywhere you go and reports it back to Google and Apple. That information is sold and used to target advertising.i don’t use the Uconnect and I think I’ll let it expire. I suppose they will still track me and sell my data.
But even I know how to switch it to airplane mode, turn it off, or leave the phone at homeThey use the data in-house for research and development. TLTR. I stopped on page 9. Seemed to be about hacking, I’m not worried about that. More concerned about privacy and Someone monetizing my info. But thanks.
If they do this and it’s a big if who cares how many times you went to the store or the nudie bar in what way would that hurt youTLTR. I stopped on page 9. Seemed to be about hacking, I’m not worried about that. More concerned about privacy and Someone monetizing my info. But thanks.
Just because you dont see how it could hurt someone doesn’t necessarily mean its not a problem to them. Im with the Op that im no fan of companies tracking whatever I do. Definitely a to each their own scenario. If they do this and it’s a big if who cares how many times you went to the store or the nudie bar in what way would that hurt you
A piece of aluminum foil over the antenna (which is in the soundbar) will stop GPS reception.
