just got back from the Maine Jeep Jamboree and out of 170 Jeeps there were maybe 5 JTs and of those 2 were stock (which is fine I guess). So I am curious do you actually wheel ? The JT is a great platform for it. The longish wheelbase makes some turns tight and you’ll squeeze your fenders here and there but you don’t get stuck in the 2 door holes. Also the wheelbase is great on ledges and steep ups. it was impressive to see what the JT could clear obstacle wise. so what’s your excuse for not wheeling ?

My 'excuse' is after having owned 3 other Jeeps, I became tired of occassionally renting trailers and simply wanted/needed a pickup - and wasn't interested in the commodity pickups from the 'big 3'.

Location is my excuse. I bs around utility easements in the Houston area, but that’s about it. It’s a 4+ hour drive for me to anywhere worth adventuring unfortunately. It’s a big reason why I miss West Virginia and a pretty big reason I won’t be settling down in the Houston area.

Used to wheel all the time in my FJ Cruiser, including multiple trips to Ouray for the FJ Cruiser meet (including the very first one). Did a big trip to Moab too.

Then I had Raptors for 10 years and just didn't feel like wheeling them. Went off road, sure, but nothing very technical.

Now I got the JT and I'm itching to go up in to the hills every day.

funny you mention this. I treated my raptor also like the total pavement princess and it was such a fantastic truck to just drive around. the JT just begs to be beat for some reason.

here’s a snippet. ofc does not look steep but the rock was slick and a little off camber so you were drifting left. I don’t think many made it up that one. The guides were awesome (and I was the last Jeep on the run ha ha ) I highly recommend audio on

That sliding to the passenger side (and a tree or two) could definitely get the blood flowing!

No, and not especially planning to. I don’t need an “excuse”.

When YOU pay for MY truck you can find fault with what I do/don’t do with it.
You do you Dan but you are missing out !

I used to take it on the beach and up in the hills often, but yeah, it was just so good on the road.

But my last one ('19 Gen 2) turned out to be a lemon so I got burned out. Never should have gotten rid of my last Gen 1.

LOL. I do not wheel. I do not need an excuse not to. I just don't want to. I do not mod any of my vehicles either. I consider that to be a waste of money. I got my fill of wheeling when I was a teen with an older Ford truck.

Why a JT? I needed a truck, there were none available from other brands, the local Jeep dealer had some JTs on the lot, so I got one. I could have bought a gorgeous Sting-Ray JT Rubicon with a manual tranny for less than I paid for mine, but test drove it and didn't like the tranny. Plus I don't need all that off-road stuff in the Rubicon. Some lucky person bought that Ruby that same day.

I love the Gladiator on road. I'm glad the other brands didn't have inventory when I was in the market.

Yep! I wheel mine.
As much as I can.
It's addictive for sure.

Not sure if it's just me but I'm only getting audio, no video.

Weird. Could be my fault, but it works on my computer.
Don't ask me to do tech stuff. I am not a computer expert.
