I looked at the categories, don't know where this belongs.

I can get a Dometic CFX-75DZW for $850 shipped, they're $1230 on amazon. Looking to get something nice for the Overland build out on the JT.

Anybody know of a nice fridge that is less than 17.5" tall? I was hoping to be able to slide it under the diamondback cover, but looks like most of them are at least 18.5" tall.

So frustrating, the 35w model is $765, but only 16.8" tall. So for $85 more I can double the capacity, but it wont fit where I'd like it to......decisions.

This is one big limitation of the JT short box. Yeah you can reach into it, but with a cover on, can only fit certain things in there. Doubt Jeep really considered this overlanding $1000 fridge issue, lol

I like the Dometic because you can have both the freezer and regular fridge sections. Wife asked what I wanted for my birthday in August and I said the Dometic DZW cooler. Then she caught herself and said nope you got that Gladiator, that covers all of your gifts for the year.

This is part of the reason that I’ll be going with a topper rather than a tonneau cover. Couple years ago I scored a secondhand Dometic that is 18” tall.

Yeah I don't think I've ever had frozen food while camping, but I also never had a $1000 cooler before, maybe we would utilize that. Or just have two separate fridge sections. One 33deg for beer, one 36 or something for food.

There are those fridge slide and drop mechanisms, but they only drop 11". By my estimates, if I build a pseudo canopy and have the fridge come out the side, the top of the cooler would still be at 59" off the ground. And I'm only 5' 7".

Engel Coolers. They have a better compressor (more efficient and better insulation) than the others. little bit more but you get what you pay for. I have an Engel 60qt on my boat, which i am a full time liveaboard, and it only draws 1.5 amps when running. You need to thing about what amps a unit draws and how often if you are camping more than just one day. Better warranty and they will cover it anywhere in the world. You just have to get it to one of their suppliers. which isnt hard. Mine has been running for 2.5 years non stop in Fl, Bahamas and Caribbean using solar and wind power only.

i thought the Dometic only used 0.5 to 1.0 amps while maintaining its temp.....need to find a good site to see these tests.

So I am on a boat that has no climate control other than fans. But id still like to see them run either in a bed or even in the cabin, run at that amperage. If anyone has proof of them running at that amperage while out camping and at the time frame that mine runs. Im open to seeing it.

Yeti Cooler with ice, does the trick for me, wont last a week but a few days no problem.
maybe i should just buy a generic yeti for this year and then i'll have more time to figure out dimensions.
