I learned a valuable lesson last week... for probably the 12th time in my life lol. "Don't throw any good parts away, unless you want to buy it again."

I swapped the factory front bumper on my JT Sport for a Rugged Ridge HD Fullwidth. I like the look, the build quality was fine no complaints. So I chucked the factory bumper and mounting brackets for the fog lights, trimmed the wiring harness! Exactly what I wanted....Until I decided to not go the Mopar 2" lift route with respect to my short wife, but still run 35s.....That's where the issue comes in. With the fullwidth you can't run 35s st stock height or even with a spacer, we'll I mean, if you'd like to make a turn at some point. After about a 1/4 turn the tire impacts the steel wings and your stuck.

Long story short, I had to go buy a take off from somebody so I can mount my shiny new 35s, and then order everything I tossed. $195 I shouldn't have had to spend, or at least not on parts I'd already owned lol.

Now I've got a year old, useless to me winch bumper in my garage, I'm trying to sell at half price and a wife looking at me sideways lol.

ah, another person with the deep wing problem, I sold my front bumper as well when I put on my RR HD bumper, same problem even after you lift it… when flexed the tire hits and it will break the welds on the back of the wings…. I have the remedy, some probably won’t like it though… excuse my poor attempt at editing a photo please!

Haha! I learned this the hard way with dirt bikes. Now I keep all the stock parts, so that when I trade up, I pull off the blingy aftermarket stuff and put it on the new bike. You can never get even close to your money back on aftermarket when you sell.

I've kept every single nut, bolt, etc that I've taken off the jeep lol.. Mentally in the back of my mind I always think, maybe they'll put a Hurricane in the next Mojave and then you'll regret not being able to put the old steering stabilizer back on when you trade in...

But that will pretty much never happen, so I should probably start getting rid of stuff.

Hell, I've still got the original speakers, including the sound bar ones that can't ever go back in since I cut it up to put in 6x9, which is just rediculous..

Cut the wings off the winch bumper and make it a stubby?
I have the same bumper plus winch on my Willys, however Im hoping it will be ok after a 2" lift w 35's. If tight, I will cut the "wings" off and rework, weld in some sheet metal to match, waalaa...

The only way I pitch something is if there’s no way I’d reuse it or be willing to let someone else put the part in their vehicle. I.e. I could compress the OE steering stabilizer with one finger. That was binned in short order. Everything else is put aside just in case it’s needed someday.

That’s kind of funny, I have a stock bumper sticking out of my trash can as we speak. Trash day is tomorrow, gotta make room for my stock suspension since I’m lifting this week. I throw everything away, I don’t care about keeping a pile of stock parts. Ain’t my thing. Buy once cry once.

I have a full stock suspension, springs, shocks, control arms, end links, a leveling kit, and a few other things off the Jeep that will be in this pile tomorrow. I just don’t care to keep it ?‍♂
