Has anyone with door entry guards that go over the lip have water come in during a water crossing?

If the sill guards go over the lip, then they will compromise where the door seal contacts the body, and you may have issues.

My only experience is with my JK, where the door seals contacted the Mopar sill guards (which covered the lip) and caused significant leaks during a water crossing.

I ordered a pair of plastic guards and attempted to cut off part that covers the lip. I tried on the two rear ones and the results were not good. Now I have two good fronts I need to unload.

Thanks for that piece of information, I'm staying away from sill guards that go all the way up then. This is excellent info! I thought this would be the case, but have no personal experience because I never bothered with sill guards, but since I only have the Rubicon rock rails right now, I need something I can step on from time to time.

Will probably go with 3M tape then.

@Gvsukids – good to know, but I'm still going with something that doesn't interfere with the seals. I don't care about scratches either, I'm more interested in a grippy surface.
