The Dual Top Group package on the configurator is more expensive then the Hard and Soft top combined. Anybody know why? One other questions, anybody know how much flapping that soft top will do at highway speeds when it's open?

The JLU’s soft top doesn’t flap around much at all. However the JT’s top is going to be sitting high up on the sport bars so It’s going be hard to predict it’s behavior. I wonder if anyone checked that out in the press reviews.

Think of it this way (round ballpark numbers)

Base soft top worth $400
Soft top frame $100
Premium soft top $1000
Hardtop $1700

If you order premium soft top they charge you $1000 -$400 credit for base top =$600

Order hardtop $1700-$500 credit = $1200

Order dual top $2700-$400 credit = $3200

Edit**
Soft top included at base price.
$600 upcharge for premium fabric
hard top $1700 -$500 credit (fabric AND frame)= $1200
Dual top = $600 upcharge + $1700 hardtop = $2300.

Ha, I just went through this with my dealer and the math wasn't adding up...$1195 for the Hard Top and $595 for the Freedom Top...where's the other $505 if the package costs $2295 ? >>> It also includes the Tonneau cover (which is listed for $495, so Jeep is making $10 on us here! ;))

Apparently it’s not included but it’s required...when you select the Dual Top (at least on the Rubicon) it creates a conflict and says the tonneau cover must be added, but then it jacks up the price of the package to $2790.

You guys are forgetting to add value for the top included with the Jeep, a premium soft top is only an extra $600 because you are already paying for a regular soft top in the price, so that is the difference between the two tops, a hard top is only $1200 because once again you are getting credit for the soft top you are no longer getting. When you get both tops that credit is only applied to one of the tops, so the other top is full price without any credit taken away from it. If the jeep came without a top and it cost $600 for a premium top or $1200 for a hard top, than your argument would hold water but that's not the case. Look at retail price, premium soft top is what like 2 grand and a hardtop is $2500? You really think jeep is only charging you $600 or $1200.. .

… or or you can order a soft top, and I have a hard top for you in Salt Lake, unused, just taking up space in my hangar. Make any offer and save yourself some money.
