Some vehicles now will idle for an hour and shut off after an hour (unless you tell it). I believe the trigger is opening the driver door.

I've made mine hard to climb into and have unexplainable shakes and wobbles around 40 mph so it was a self healing problemdon't let the wife take the Glady anymore. Problem solved!
Mine was way too loud. So i added a new resonator.I've made mine hard to climb into and have unexplainable shakes and wobbles around 40 mph so it was a self healing problem
I have a large PDF file of locations in the U.S. that prohibit idling. It's mostly aimed at trucks, diesel engines, buses, and that sort of thing but some of it is aimed at the consumer-level auto and light truck. This is starting to be fun in Germany.
It used to be normal. Wake up, go out to the car, start it and let it idle while you make a coffee and then start getting the snow off of it.
Of course, they made idling your vehicle illegal, Germany. Ranging from e few €€ on public roads (is a small violation in part founded in the traffic law) to €€€€€ if you do it on your private property, they then go after you for pollution
So you get fined if a cop is in a bad mood and sees you start your car and get out and de-ice it... thats why remote start etc is all illegal. Now if it was only that, I would be like hey whatever.
But...
Germany used to love (and many still do love) their diesels. Cold diesels going straight onto the Autobahn is a no no, so people would let their engines warm up before going to work etc. taking that on ramp and needing to merge into some nice fast traffic. Many love their cars more and rather pay a fine.
So what happened is they started a campaign where the car experts, ADAC (AAA equivalent with added testing facilities, insurance and some legal advice for members etc), and car magazines, as well as governmental notices are now telling everyone they are breaking their engines by idling them Gotta love it.
But it's a problem with many modern vehicles including her own Grand Cherokeedon't let the wife take the Glady anymore. Problem solved!
Why? Most of us appreciate it save for a small handful that complain about simple stuff. I'm glad for the reminder and know and understand why it's there.Tazer allows you to disable that.
I appreciate all the features on my jeep. Plus i have learned complaining doesn't fix anything. Some people could use a lesson on how to properly use active features that have been on cars for years instead of complaining about the passive ones. Like turn signals!!Why? Most of us appreciate it save for a small handful that complain about simple stuff. I'm glad for the reminder and know and understand why it's there.
Do you close the door? The operation I've seen most often is that what you describe happens if you get out and leave the door open, but once you close the door it does the honking.I have a 21 and never disabled the horn while walking away. I keep my fob clipped on my waist all the time, and i'll get out and go do things while letting it idle. Never had the horn go off. It does ding on the dash and display a message about the fob leaving the vehicle though.
Yup. Exactly.Do you close the door? The operation I've seen most often is that what you describe happens if you get out and leave the door open, but once you close the door it does the honking.
