Where I’m from, car is generic up to a point. Truck is used for vehicles (truly a generic term) meant for pickups, box trucks. Call a truck “a car” around here and folks will look at you like you are stupid. Right there with folks that call a shotgun a “rifle”. It isn’t. Appreciate accuracy. Ever hear a cop radio to be on the lookout for a car, then describe a truck? No.

I've considered Jeeps to be trucks since I was a kid and rode around in my Dad's CJ3. It's a truck, it has a bed. If an El Camino or Ranchero is a truck, a Jeep is definitely a truck! Body on frame SUV? Truck.

Now a pickup, that's specifically a light duty truck with a separate bed, so a Gladiator is ALSO a pickup.

We have 3 Jeeps, The Gladiator, a YJ and a JK, so if I just say "Jeep" in my house, the response is always "which one" . I also have a Ram, so if I say "truck" I get the same answer. Doesn't mean I don't do it all the time. Whatever.
My wife will call it the Beep for Blue Jeep if she's feeling charitable, or more likely Peep, for P*ssy (where * stands for you) because it's the only Jeep with auto trans, and all the power options. Or sometimes the "silly looking but whatever makes you happy" Jeep. :P

I do not get triggered easy enough to care if it is called a car, truck, Jeep or something else. I usually call it a truck though because my wife has a JL.

Karros - chariot.
French - carre

So technically any vehicle with 4 wheels can be a "car".
