Howdy all, I've got about 1200 miles on my 23 Rubi diesel gladiator.
I installed a Scanguage 2 last week and set it up to monitor turbo temp, Regen status ON/OFF, DPF temp, and DPF soot level.
When I installed it a week ago my soot level was 40, after a week of around town driving my soot level reached 76, so today I decided to drive it around town (subdivision type driving) until it reached 80 and see if it would automatically begin a regen cycle.

Once the soot level reached 80, after about 1/2 mile the regen indicator switched to ON (was driving abt 30 mph at the time)
I then made my way to the highway about a mile away, had to stop at a red light for a minute, and up to the highway.
As I was driving between 60-70 mph the soot level was steadily dropping.
It did pause at 42 for a bit on its way down, I just kept driving.

After about 20 minutes the regen indicator switched to OFF and the soot level showed 8
It did go back up to 18 pretty quickly over the next 15 min drive back to the house but then stabilized.
This was my first observed regen.

Like I mentioned, it took me about a week of my everyday driving for my soot level to go from 40 to 80, I'm retired so don't get put on the highway ever trip.

I'm very happy to have the scanguage 2 so I can know when I'm getting close to 80 soot level so I can plan for it, I don't want to interrupt it if possible.

I highly recommend some type of monitor for diesel owners.

Show us a picture of how you have the scan gauge set up. I no longer have a Gladiator but this is the first purchased I was looking to do after the ceramic coating and other things I initially did.

I'll try and upload a pic tomorrow, I have it mounted directly in front of the drivers side dash speaker using the velcro that came with the scanguage 2.
I routed the wires from the obd port, to the removeable panel on the drivers side (when you open the drivers door) up to the dash, the wire exits the dash on the far left in a space between the dash and the piller.

I have heard that JScan can now monitor soot level and regen…. I don’t have JScan? But maybe one of you do and can confirm?
I like the simplicity of the scan gauge 2- and the size…. I wish a smaller scan gauge 3 would emerge.

Same here. I like the features of the 3 but it's freaking huge. I'm sticking with the 2 for it size.

Yes I agree. I love the ScanGauge 2. It's funny, the entire time I have own mine, the dash has told me that it was in Regen a handful of times.

I went with the upgrade... Scangauge III

I like having the larger, color touch screen. It's completely customizable. $$ well spent.

Not the best picture, but the only one I had.(night time shot)

There is definitely a Scangauge III available, but definitely not smaller.

I actually like the size and upgrades you get with the SGIII vs SGII. The touch screen alone is worth the extra $$ to me.

I don’t have my JTRD yet, as it’s still at the dealer, but I planned on getting the SG 2. I don’t know the size of it, but I planned on putting it between the rear view mirror and top. Will it fit in there? If someone could check, I will get this thing ordered up right away.
Thanks
Clarence

I monitor Regens using a 10 dollar OBDII Bluetooth dongle and an app on my phone.

just make sure you get the oil hot fairly frequently to help burn off fuel, and moisture in the oil…. Or change the oil a bit more frequently (or do a lab analysis of the oil)

I've had a SG2 for decades on a previous vehicle, updated it to work with my diesel, still working. Very similar experience to the people above, it works.

But it's pretty ancient tech in 2024. Coarse LCD dot display, fixed backlight brightness, some color change options but not enough, hard to see in backlit sun, unnecessarily bulky, cord is thick and bulky and a pain to route, colossal pain in the ass to type in the many many xgauge codes that you need and are not present stock... If I was starting from scratch I'd look at newer more attractive options like the SG3, or a bluetooth OBD2 dongle and phone app of your choice (are there any that do CarPlay display?). Just IMHO

I have mine on top of the mirror, to answer that question. It's hard to see there when there's bright sun from the front of the vehicle and you're wearing sunglasses. But it works better than anywhere else I tried. On top of the dash was better for me but blocked the view of the road for my shorter GF. Left of dash above headlight switch: reflects in side window at night (really nasty and interferes with left mirror). Mounted to glass at the top of the windshield was pretty good but interferes with visor. Down low on the center console is probably easiest all around but it's way out of the sightline. My advice, pick a temporary spot and try it for a while day and night before running the cable more permanently

I have the Banks iDash gauge. Here's some of the pages that I have set up in it.

I have the ScanGauge 3 and agree it is better than the 2, I just greatly dislike the amount of space it takes up for the Jeep… it blocks a big enough section of the windshield to be annoying, and doesn’t really fit anywhere else.

Confirmed, Jscan does all of that and you can just use your phone..
Thanks for this!!
