First time for everything… trail tire damage

which I believe led to finding this when I got home.

Gone too soon… These general grabber atx’s have been great and with 34,000 miles on them look to have at least another 10-15k miles of useable tread. However, General discontinued the tire in this size…

Anyone got a glitch order on Walmart I can get for $500 for a set vs a single tire?

Long story short… pay to play and this is an expensive hobby, habit, addiction.

General Tire just commented saying they're bringing them back.

Just a quick update on this size: To clarify, the 37x12.50R17 Grabber A/Tx was phased out due to changes in the lineup. However, due to overwhelming demand, this size will be returning in the spring of 2025.

You didn't perchance buy 5 last go around or replace them with the same tire?

My old set of 35's i took the best one and mounted it as the spare for my new set of kendas so if this did happen at least I have the same tire as a spare for a few.

Naw I had the dealership put these on before I took delivery.

I then purchased a 37 inch milestar AT from discount, knowing it would fit where as the General for a fact wouldn’t.

Spare does not match.

I got a smoking deal on Patagonia’s, not gonna say I’m happy or even the next tire I had in mind, but for $1,300 I can’t complain.

The problem becomes fitting between the frame rails under the bed. I believe the Patagonia M/T fits.. but these will have hazard warranty through Discount, so I’m not too worried it.

Years of wheeling, done this same trail probably 50 times, first damage of any kind I’ve taken.

I've been in that situation with 3 different brands of tires in the past. I started with 5 in all three sets. It was the main reason I started using Goodyear Wrangler tires from Walmart with road hazard add-on.

First time I blew or shredded a tire off roading was on a logging trail in my Bronco II in 1997......that was a hoot. In the snow and miles from the main road........good lesson learned there

This actually taught me to not be overconfident and do a walk around after airing up. I drove home 70 miles at 70+ when I found the gash. Would I have seen it and put the spare on? Maybe and probably.
