Hi guys. I have no idea where to get this information.
I need to find out the center bore specification for the Gladiator Manual Transmission Flywheel. Probably the crank outer diameter also.
I had a local shop try to install a Centerforce Clutch kit on my 2021 Gladiator. The part is listed on the Quadratec website for both 20 & 21 Gladiators so I didn't think twice. Turns out they have never had one installed on a 2021 before. The center bore of the new flywheel was 0.2MM too small to fit on my engine crankshaft
Talking with Centerforce, their answer is send the part back we don't make a flywheel to fit your crankshaft. Then when I asked about help with the labor or authorize some other fix that doesn't require me to put the original Clutch back into my vehicle, they said I would need to start by confirming the specs either did or did not change between the two years of vehicle.
My only thought on how to do this would be to see if the P/N is the same for the 2020 and 2021 flywheels and the crankshaft. Does this make sense? Am I correct on this assumption. If there is a spec change, I believe FCA issues a new part number. @AllMoparParts.com can you confirm this for me?
I can find the following part numbers which by the part number tell me there are revisions to the part design, but I have no way to tell when or why? Any idea how to find this information?
Flywheel PN 68273846AC which would indicate there are 3 versions.
Crankshaft PN 4893950AB which tells me 2 versions.
Any help or advice here would be helpful.
I did learn a lot about the Challenges that Centerforce has had with these engines. If I understood the explanation correctly, turns out the crankshaft design is funny compared to most engines and whatever they use to center the clutch disk on a normal engine isn't present. They have had to resort to adding bushings to the new flywheel that allow the clutch disk to stay centered. That is why they had to redesign the clutch kit.
