I read the last thread about noise after fear swap. I did 4.88s a while back with the most reputable shop in the area. They are gear shop. It’s their main service. My 4.88 have made a slight buzz almost a white noise type sound. You wouldn’t hear it unless you listened for it with radio down. It’s only there above 40 mph. No noise while under. I would agree that most people won’t or can’t hear it. I’ve been through it a few times with the shop and Yukon. They claimed that these sounds are normal. Sound doesn’t get louder with speed. It just changes frequency. Now you guys have me thinking something is off. Everything checked out on the 500 mile tear down. I’ve done gears three other times with this shop
thoughts.

Anytime I've had gears set up on a vehicle incorrectly I've heard noise on decel/brakes at lower speeds.

Definitely not a gear expert but 4:88 is obviously super low and if this shop is reputable for setting up gears and they've double checked then good to go right?

The noise isn’t on deceleration. It’s just constant with the speed of the vehicle. It’s a light buzz. Most people that ride in the car don’t know it’s there

In my non professional opinion then.

4:88 gears is super low and if the gear shop is confident in it, then maybe it's just everything else spinning faster and the axle spinning slower.

Or it's in your head :headbang:
