Hello. I have a 2021 rubicon gladiator and I’m looking to overland with a RTT. What are the options for a cargo rack that is universal for mounting equipment and carrying a hard top roof top tent?

Tons of options. I used to have a Tuwa pro rack. Took it off and it's just sitting in the garage. 600lbs capacity. I believe

Recently purchased Uptop Overland rack and I am going to install today or tomorrow. So far, it seems pretty superb. What I like about this rack vs others is weight...

Rebel Off Road, full-height rack = 165 lbs
Uptop Overland, full-height rack = 77 lbs

Yes, Rebel is a stronger rack but I don't need to put 750 lbs of dynamic weight on the rack.

Also, Uptop has 20% off all month I think.

If you want to keep the tonneau, your list of options dwindles.

Tons of options on the market without a tonneau, though.

What type of RTT are you looking at? Pop-up or one that unfolds? The pop-up ones are long and heavy, and will probably need suspension help; that weight and positioning will be fighting the ride comfort Jeeps are known for (a little sarcasm).

I had a JCR Offroad rack. Recently went to OVS rack as it's higher, so I can now (with a little mod) put our RTT forward.

Go to ExtremeTerrain.com to look and see what's out there. Most major racks are listed there.

Someone will eventually mention a cool bed rack name - as I have forgotten the name/brand - but you can buy storage pods that lock and mount to the rack, so it's a handy option.

I'd recommend avoiding JCR. Did not care for the quality of the JCR Rack I had.
Mine worked, and it was inexpensive. I did notice that one of my pillars started to rust at the top, so that was a bummer, being only a couple years old.

I also have a rooftop half-rack, which was shipped with non stainless washers, so guess what rusted?

I really wish rack builders would just have standard mounting solutions instead of optimizing their own s**t. The Apple Way doesn't work everywhere.

That was my biggest issue - I had aspects of mine rusting within the first season, very disappointing. Also, some of the parts were not perfectly aligned, which was fine but still disappointing.

I coughed up for the Rebel. I wanted the beefiest rack possible, and it looks best in terms of shape and size with the iKamper mini in particular, imo. I wanted something that could hold the RTT, the full size (37) spare tire for ground clearance, and still survive the bashing and torquing that comes with tougher terrain. So far so good, I love it.

My only wish is that it were aluminum. The cost would be pretty absurd at that point but it would be plenty strong I think and would cut down so much on weight and not have to worry about rust.

I've considered making a copycat and having all the parts laser cut by sendcutsend and tig weld it all together... maybe a project some day. At the very least the side panels can be easily laser cut out of aluminum and swapped out.

I enjoyed mine, and it's relatively tonneau friendly (rolling factory works, not sure about a hard trifold).

KB VooDoo 14" aluminum Max Modular, with storage box, traction board mount and tonneau brackets; with a Condor Overland RTT on top.

I did about 25K miles across 26 states this year, and never had an issue.

Has anybody used a rack with a Rugged Ridge
Do you have one that works with the Rugged Ridge Armis rolling soft tonneau cover? Or does anyone else?

Rebel OffRoad XPLOR Full Height here. Didn't like having the RTT hanging over the back of the bed.
Built like a tank.

I like that! Do you have a link to that model? I like the idea of the low rack, but still am thinking about an awning. Decisions, decisions!

I actually like the RR roll-up tonneau. It gets bad reviews, but my experience with it so far is great.

Im looking at the roofnest condor. I’m also planning on taking the bed cover off. Thanks for the reply.
