Why tho? Everyone wants to be like LiteBrite. It's always weird when you recognize someone because you've seen them naked. Even in a Jeep video they've got everything out.

I didn't know they went that route. At least their content is probably better now.Why tho? Everyone wants to be like LiteBrite.

The photo makes it look like the awning is overhanging at the back of the truck, but it's not.. Anyhoo, it's a pretty low profile setup (less than 4" above the cab height).

Yes, I have a bunch of tents including a Kodiak Flex-Bow, a White Duck 16x24 Alpha Pro, and a Nemo Equipment tent. I am trying to figure something out where I can stay on the move and make setup and takedown very quick. I also use my rack as an incognito dog box for hunting which is why I prefer it over a traditional topper.I've had awnings, racks, roof top tents, tent rooms...
...I went back to temporarily throwing out a ground tent
So now it's just a Gazelle T3, or just a hammock, or my Timberline 2 person tent.
In the right weather your tarp over the rack solution looks like a simple solution though! I like it.
Thanks, I did a Google search a while back to try and get some customer reviews and didn't find any. I was curious as to how the EDC would stand up to overlanding use with no structural support in the back other than the hatch. I emailed Harker questions and never received a reply, and they were a no show at Overland Expo Mountain West so I couldn't ask them in person. There's a YT channel that just showed QC issues on the Harker after some offroad use.
This set up reminds me of when I first got out of the military. I had a small pickup with a ladder rack and used to just throw a tarp over the ladder rack. If it was windy, a few bungee cords did the job. I also discovered you can buy a 10’ wide x whatever length you want piece of no see um mosquito netting and the company would even sew magnets into the hem for you so it would stick to the truck bed.I drive my Gladiator daily for work, and an RTT or other camper just won't work. I regularly have to park in height restricted parking garages and a RTT won't fit and I need a full height rack.
I came up with this on my last deer scouting trip. It needs refinement, but eventually, it will be awesome. I move camp every night. I have the Rebel XPLOR rack and the original Molle Hatch. I bought a WHITEDUCK Canvas 18oz Tarp (Cut Size: 10'x14', Finished Size: 9'6"x13'6") and just threw it over the top. It is almost the perfect size. It rained and snowed hard and it kept the water off me and the heat in. I took it to the upholstery shop and they are going to cut it, sew it, and add velcro straps so it fits perfect.
What temporary camping setups are you running?

My temporary setup is a cot tent from KampRite. It’s quick, comfortable, and easy to setup.Yes, I thought about that, but I am too cheap.
I am SO out of the loop on this....I didn't know they went that route. At least their content is probably better now.
For a few low buck tent poles, you can buy a couple of metal conduit, few 1/4 bolts and nuts. Drill holes in them where you want.Yes, I thought about that, but I am too cheap.
Your Tent-Cot looks to be a newer design than my old ones. I've strapped mine on spare tire on my LJ many times. I have to halfway crawl in and out of it.My temporary setup is a cot tent from KampRite. It’s quick, comfortable, and easy to setup.

It’s not bad at all. Super comfortable. It’s big folded up though. They make one that folds super compact, but it’s slower. I wanted speed of setup and fold up. Pretty cheap as well. For a few low buck tent poles, you can buy a couple of metal conduit, few 1/4 bolts and nuts. Drill holes in them where you want.![]()
I've made a half dozen or so.

Mine is definitely not a compact version. It’s not bad at all. Super comfortable. It’s big folded up though. They make one that folds super compact, but it’s slower. I wanted speed of setup and fold up. Pretty cheap as well.
Nor is mine. This is a newer version, but I think mostly identical to mine. I paid less though.Mine is definitely not a compact version.
